World's only Space Diver about to perish?

Six Flags Magic Mountain's official web-site has removed Flashback from the ride list.

This may be an explanation as to why Magic Mountain did not mention having the most coasters in the world anymore, even after the reopening of X.

Let's see what happens.

Are you sure it's not there...

Flashback's staying... don't think it's not. They do this every year when Hurricane Harbor is open because FB is closed for the season when HH is open, lol.

They also did that for X when it was down.

Flashback has been removed from the "Rides" drop down box on the web site..

I cannot speak for Six Flags, but I can tell you that it was listed in June when I visited Magic Mountain and it was not operating at the time.

Pure speculation, but maybe they are planning on moving the ride so it can run regardless of Hurricane Harbor. Or more likely, the small operation window does not justify the upkeep.

Only time will tell.

Sometimes lurkers speak . . .

Has anyone ever been on it? What is it like?

-----------------
87 different coasters for this year and counting... 149 total!

Well for one thing, I bet its going. They did this for X (removed every way to get to the page accept for typing in the address)

Do a search....although I'm sure you won't find a good review. I didn't like it when I rode it in Georgia.

Why can they not run the ride when HH is open? I don't understand.

-KoRn is the Millennium Force of ROCK-

The gaurds say that it was to loud and was distracting.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

Lifegaurds? Okay. That makes sense. Maybe they should move it. Safety first.

I loved the ride when it was at Great America. Send it back here. It probably has less headbanging than Iron Wolf. They can even put it its old spot then :)

I'm not so sure its going anywhere. In fact, I believe that it could even be open today, since HH closed for the season yesterday. For the sake of the record, I don't see it going anywhere.

As far as the website goes, it may have been taken off temporarily because it was basically scheduled in advance that it would not be open all Summer.

I loved it in both SFoG and SFMM. It's a great ride! Yes the lifeguards complained that it was distracting to their jobs. I would make sense except it's not that loud. Maybe they'll move in inside SFMM or maybe they'll move it to another SF park (like they have so many other times).

Well maybe astroworld will see a new coaster for 2003.

Just please please let me get ONE ride on this thing.....first GA, now on third trip to SoCal....then, assuming it's as bad as everyone says, SFMM could do what they like....what would I do with it....glad you asked...;)....since it's SO transportable, I'd do just that...move it away from HH so it can operate..."the M in M*A*S*H stands for mobile, and mobile we shall be"....Frank Burns

I like Flashback, and I hope it's not going anywhere. Everyone seems to hate this ride, but aside from the headbanging it's not really that bad. Replace the OTSRs with lap bars and they'll have a decent ride that people will wait in line for.

I haven't ridden it in about 5 years, but it was a fun ride and I want to ride it again (in fact, I'm planning on going in November or December and I'll be pretty disappointed if the ride is just standing there wasting away like it has been all summer). There's no point in getting rid of it or moving it, if it's too loud for the lifeguards at HH then they probably won't be able to put anything else in its place without having the same problem.

I wish theyd

1. Get new trains. I wouldnt mind the OTSR's as much but lets face it, even without them these trains would suck.

2. Remove the otsr's. Nuff said.

3. paint it.

4 fix the flashing lights around the structure. That was extremely cool the first time I saw it.

Too bad about the location....it always was very imposing watching it while waiting to enter the park.

RIP willthethrill, a true martyr he was.

I have been saying for awhile that I felt that Flashback's days are numbered, record or no record.

I also believe that the Hurricane Harbor issue is only part of the story. Fact is, Flashback is in horrible condition, has very low ridership and is located in the worst possible spot.

Factor in the HH issue, and you've got a ride that's fastly becoming difficult to justify sending 2-3 people over to operate it, no matter what season it is.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the ride rarely runs the rest of the year if at all. I also would not be the least bit surprised to see SFMM bow out of the coaster count race. It hasn't done them a bit of good.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Question: Would anybody really be sad if the "World's only Space Driver" was about to become trash?

Cedar Point 2003, and it begins...

Sure we would be sad. To the GP isn't just another cool coaster that they should be riding?
