Came across an announcement that worlds of fun will be getting a swinging ride called SteelHawk. Although not confirmed, I'm guessing this will be the windseeker ride from Knotts. It will be located in the Americana section of park and you can find it across from the Patriot roller coaster.
With a shaky track record (if its from Knotts) and a height restriction of 52" (not really a family ride offering) I think this isn't a great move by Cedar Fair. Thoughts ?

Hrm. Wonder why they're not calling this one Windseeker?
Also, it's legit.

Thanks for the link. I have trouble doing that lol
Sky's the limit.
LOL no problem. I went ahead and submitted that page to news since it seemed to slip by everyone.
I wonder if this really is the Knotts ride.
Yeah, right. You just did that for the 10 points, you Tyler, you.
I'm not sure what if anything is mechanically wrong with the Knott's WindSeeker. I was under the impression it was the sticklers in the state government that couldn't abide the safety procedures for the ride.
The name change is pretty odd considering how similar it is to the top spin they've got. Why is Cedar Fair so fascinated with members of the Accipitridae family?
Last edited by bjames, Friday, August 30, 2013 8:27 PMThe reason why they would rename it Steel Hawk is because there are no google search results for "Steel Hawk Stuck". Same reason they renamed Invertigo when brought over to Dorney.

Yeah, I was also wondering about the name change as well. Branding wise it seems better to be called Windseeker, especially considering bjames point about Thunderhawk.
I wonder if the ride will have different components or modifications to prevent the issues that Knott's had?
Confirmation that this is the Knott's WindSeeker: http://www.kshb.com/dpp/news/local_news/planned-worlds-of-fun-attraction-has-checkered-past
I guess Dorney has finally learned not to answer calls from other parks' GMs.
I find it interesting that a reporter actually did some investigative homework, but I am not sure this is truly worth the report. I only say this because if XLR8R was being moved from KBF to WoF, I am not sure they would mention the cable snap, and that actually injured someone.
Regardless, I'll ride it when it arrives.

XLR8R
Pretty sure that ride's been melted down into soda cans by now.
Edit: Hey this was my 500th post!

Last edited by Tyler Boes, Saturday, August 31, 2013 2:43 PMYeah, we got it. See, Accelerator is one ride and XLR8 was... oh, never mind.
I wonder how windy it gets in Kansas City? Maybe the powers that be finally realized the absurdity of naming a ride Windseeker when it's shut down half the time due to windy conditions?
Everyone knows those sensible Hawks stay safe in their nests when it gets too windy, making it a much better choice for a name.
Tyler, maybe you should w8 to post something until you have something meaningful to write.
