Worlds of Fun Semi-Announces '05 plans!

Best of all, an incremental step like that will justify bigger cap ex budgets in the future.

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

I know, ^thats what maked me excited for the coming years!

I have to admit I was really pissed off when they got rid of the Zambezzee Zinger or however it was spelled to build the Mamba because that was the second coaster I had ever ridden I have since got over it Because Mamba is a more fun ride. Then I was extremely pissed when they got rid of Orient Express to bid the ridiculas Spinning dragons because Orient express was the first coaster I have ever ridden. I probably will never get over that one but it sounds like they are making some good strides. Lets get a GOOD LOOPING ride Cedar Fair PLEASE the Bommerang just aint doing it for me.

A few comments.

1) Spelling! Zambezi Zinger, ridiculous, boomerang, ain't, build, and not to mention Grammar.

2) Mamba did not replace Zambezi Zinger, Spinning Dragons did. You can not replace a family coaster with a hyper. Spinning Dragons did not replace Orient Express, there is still a void in that particular need in the broad spectrum.

3) Both Zambezi Zinger and Orient Express were to points where the maintenance costs were way to high to reasonably maintain the rides without dipping into other funds that are set aside for newer additions.

4) It is going to get better soon, 2006 is a large cap season that is already being worked on. Look out in the lawn behind Beat Street and you'll see what the surveyors have been up to lately.

Surveying already? This Cedar Fair Start-Building-Rides-Really-Early thing is great! Maybe we can watch this ride being built next summer ala Hydra.

What exactly IS Beat Street? Where's it located in the park?

Mike

Beat Street is the area located directly behind RipCord. It features Rockin' Reeler and Skyliner. During Halloweekends it turns into Freak Street and houses Carnival of the Carnivorous Clowns and Lore of the Vampire. The area being surveyed is due West of the Orient Section in the grassy area between the park and WOF Avenue.

Surveying for a major ride in 2006 already doesn't surprise me. CF takes at least 2 years from design to finish with most of their coasters, especially beemers.
Congrats to Worlds of Fun for expanding their options to become a semi-resort with the new Village.

It could mean more out of town guests which in turn means more $$$ for park improvements.

X Factor

Swoosh sry to say but mamba did replace the Zinger I will put big bucks on that
then a couple years later boomerang went in and spinning dragons went in this last year and repleced orient express I go there every year. and I will argue that until im blue in the face second of all if u want to hit on grammar AIN'T isn't even a word.

We know, he was responding to YOUR aint in your original sentence. And in no way, shape, or form did Mamba replace ZZ. ZZ was more of a family type coaster so it was replaced with Spinning Dragons. Just because Spinning Dragons is right by where the Orient Express used to be doesnt mean that it is a replacement for it. Orient was more of a fast, looping coaster, and I wouldnt say that Boomerange has replaced it! I would LOVE to hear your logic though...

Mamba didn't replace Zambezi Zinger. They are in the same section of the park, but not the same exact spot. Boomerang is the coaster located on the former Zinger site.

Rollerfreak has it. Yes I was making fun of your original ain't! Amazing that even though you knew it was improper English, you still used it Tony. Also Rollerfreak is dead on when explaining how SD replaced ZZ and how OE is yet to be replaced.

I too would love to hear your logic, Tony.

Easy they had Timberwolf orient express and ZZ.
the demolish ZZ to make room for Mamba. 2 Years later they build Boomerang. so now they have Timberwolf, Bommerang, Orient Express, and Mamba.
Ok now here comes the crazy part last year the demolish the Orient Express and build Spinning Dragons right where the Orient Express sat. not hard to Figure out.
Sorry if I sounded disrespectful I didn't mean too if I did but thats the order things went in. I'm just here to make Coaster friends and talk about my LOVE for coasters.
If you have proof to back what ur saying up let me know I realize that Mamba is a hyper ZZ was family ride but the order things went in there is no other way it could be.
Regardless I am still happy to see them expand and I look forward to whatever they put in.

You are missing the point. Yes Mamba was built in 1998 and the Zinger's last season was 1997, but Mamba did not replace the Zinger. You don't replace a family coaster with a hyper! If you are going by location then you might be able to argue that Boomerang replaced Zinger.

When Schussboomer was taken out it was not replaced by another coaster of it's type, one might argue that Spinning Dragons takes that spot. When Screamroller (EXT) was taken out it was not replaced until Boomerang came along (weak replacement, but still a looper nonetheless). Timberwolf filled the void of a woodie, it did not replace EXT. Mamba filled the void of a large thrill coaster. We now have a void that Orient Express left as a major looper. Spinning Dragons did not fill this void, it did use some of the space that Express used, but it did not replace it. Spinning Dragons filled the void left by the Zinger.

Do you get it now? If I'm moving too fast then let me know (no disrespect meant there, just you seem confused by the notion). I can understand where you are coming from, but you are comparing apples to oranges.

Also 2006 will bring the next big addition, and in a way it will replace the Express, but will actually fill another void that we have had since they were invented.

Hey Swoosh mind giving any hints?

When I think "replace", I usually mean that the ride physically took the space of a ride removed from that spot. Such as Delirium and Sling Shot replaced King Cobra or Tomb Raider: The Ride replaced Kenton Cove's Keelboat Canal. Now, by Swoosh's definition, it may be a loooong time before a park makes a "replacement". ;)

+Danny, wondering where his overbraked, underbanked racing looping McDonald's coaster is at Knott's ;)

Danny that would be fine except Mamba is about a thousand feet south of the old Zinger lot (Boomerang sets on it now). SD is also setting on the old Dolphin pool site and in front of Express lot but not on it.

Jeff Mast -www.ThemeParksMagazine.com
Oh Ok well I meant physically and mamba did use some of the lot zinger was on
Boomerang is right next to mamba
But i do know what u guys have been saying the whole time about types of Coasters but they physically replaced them.
The point is Orient Express is gone and I don't like it . lol I hope this new coaster in 2006 is good.

No, by Swoosh's definition it takes a long time to fill a void, not "replace". Read the post, then respond.

Filling a void=What I saw as your definition of "replacement". I read it and it's pretty clear. "Replacement" for Orient Express= possibly major steel looping coaster= B&M/Intamin invert/floorless/sitdown or something similar -OR- "Replacement" for family coaster=wild mouse, mine train, small woodie, etc. Did I miss something? I think that's what you were getting at.

+Danny
