WORLD'S GREATEST FIRST DROP

Best drop has to be Oblivion at Alton Towers, vertical into a geat big black hole

ENG-ER-LAND!!
Even though most of you haven't probably rode it i think that runaway mountain's first drop is great your in the dark so it is completely cool when speed off to the right.

The drop is almost straight down.

Runaway Mountain is at SFoT *** This post was edited by coaster crazy on 8/3/2000. ***
Millennium Force or Batman Night Flight id have to say batman because it feels like the car is going straight down on a twist!its so cool and for wood Son Of Beast nuff said...
Millenium Force all the way!!!
For steel, I would of course have to say the Millenium Force, but there's something about the Gemini's first drop in the back seat that takes my stomach more than any other coaster (MF included). I think its because the Gemini reaches its steepest point of the drop quicker than any other coaster. For wood, I would say the Beast or Mean Streak before the trims.
nobody mentioned ccmr in all its 3foot-first drop glory.

Last year, I would have said Superman at Darien Lake (or its mirror this year at SFA). Something about those open trains and the steep angle.

Today, well, I think when you can see the bottom of the shallow Sandusky Bay in the morning, I think you know which one I would choose.

I've got 2 woeds_

MILLENNIUM FORCE!!!!!!!!
That first 80 degree drop is the BEST!!!!!
I Love it!

Well, after riding Shivering Timbers, I have to say that is the best wooden. I haven't ridden the Beast or the Son yet. Mf is just incredible.

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
I would have to with Millennium Force for size and speed. But the best first drop would have to Raging Bull. The ejection you get in the last row of the train is insane. Demon is good for the stomach feeling.

BMCOASTER

Raging Bull #1
If it weren't for a certain 300 foot rollercoaster that almost prevents my hands from touching the restraints, I would say Raging Bull also. I have never been on a ride that whips you over the first drop like that. Intense. The American Eagle is also a great drop that looks smaller than it is. It drops about 10 feet below the ground. I have also noticed the violent airtime on Demon. I always try to hold myself in the seat, but it never fails to eject me and make my rear land on the seat. Mantis's first drop would be intense if it didn't have that annoying brake. Twisted Sisters has a great first drop. The first drop on PKI's Vortex looked intense and scared me away years ago.
the best steel drop is Apollos cariot at BGW.
Millennium Force all the way!!!! WOW!! Back seat is amazing for the drop.. You're already carrying a lot of speed while you go over the top. You get whipped up in the air, out of your seat!! It's soo sweet!! I Love it!!!! For Woodie.. hmm... Between mean streak and the beast. I hate the stupid trim brake. Made me sooo mad. We should start some petition to get rid of it or something. It seems even more jerky now that they have it on it! AHHHH! Down with them all!! Who needs them? :)

Well, for steel: Goliath. The Drop is just as intense as MF, IF NOT BETTER, and has a whole lot more to offer after the drop. MF a CLOSE SECOND!

Wood: SON OF BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how could it not? it is 214 feet, and goes almost 80 mph. it would beat mean streak ANYDAY!
GOLITAH!!!!! It's insane! 255ft 85 mph 61 degree angle and into a 20 ft underground tunnel were you stomach drops! It also looks like you'll hit the roof of the tunnel! Yes not as high or as steep or probibly as scary as Millinium Force, but more intense for some reason! *** This post was edited by Todd on 8/3/2000. ***
I didn't think Millennium Force was too scary. I was too pumped going up the hill to realize anything!! I haven't rode SOB yet so I can't say whether its good or not, but I will let you all know my opinion ASAP!!

wood=Comet (former Crystal Beach) and Silver Comet (Martin's Fantasy Island) - they have the same drop, except Comet by the lake was better. Steel = Superman:ROS@SFDL, or maybe Magnum, haven't been to CP since 1996

SoB's first drop is amazing, I also was really too much pumped up to get scared of MF. I think not having a chain lift hill on MF takes alot from the intimidation factor of the ride.
Well, I don't have any experience riding coasters outside of California, so my response will be limited. I would have to say the best drop I've experienced is on Goliath, with Medusa coming in a close second. The only reason Goliath edges Medusa to me is the fact that it's a 255ft. drop into a tunnel. That is an awesome drop. However, the drop on Medusa, while only 150 something feet, is a different feel to me because my legs fly up and I get lifted out of my seat. It's an experience. Anyone that has never ridden a floorless coaster needs to right away. They are very, very, very, very ( can i keep going? :)) fun. Peace. :)

Medusa at Marine World rocks!
You know what i always say to a question like this, 2 words MILLENNIUM FORCE!!!!! That first 80 degree drop is like nothing else. Go full force, Millennium Foce! Only at Cedar Point! MILLENNIUM FORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For wood I don't really know. MILLENNIUM FORCE!!!
