wooooohooooo!

I am so excited. I live in Virginia, and my grandmother, who lives in Indiana, is turning 70 in August. We're going out to throw her a big birthday bash, and my folks said that on the way back we can stop at cedarpoint!!! Ever since I became interested in coasters, ive dreamed of going to cp and i'm so excited that im finally going to. thanks for all your great feedback about the park, and ride on!

Cool. Make sure to ride the MF'er in the front seat. Unless you don't feel like waiting an extra 40 minutes or so. But IMO it's well worth the extra wait.

how are the lines on weekdays? ie raptor, mxl200, mf, wicked twister...
In August, you will be hard pressed to be able the stuff you want to do in one day because there is so much! However, you should be able to get on all the big coasters. Tuesdays-Thursdays have the least amount of lines so you should have a great time. Expect to wait over an hour for the big rides though.

LocoBazooka--Sevendust, Nonpoint, Stereo Vent, Mushroomhead
Korn Tour (With no name)--Korn, Puddle of Mudd, Deadsy

They're not bad, but Cedar Point is prone to some longer lines on any day of the week. Don't worry, though, the crews are great. I'd guess that most of the rides would be between 15-30 minutes, with Mantis, MF and WT being maybe twice that (use that stamp thing for the two latter) and Gemini being less.

Sunday is the least crowded day, I've found.

One thing.. Blue Streak is the hidden jem in this park! Plenty of airtime and its just a lot of fun. Lines for Blue Streak are pretty much non existent after 6pm.

thanks guys. i cant wait!
what should i ride first in terms of which lines are short when the park opens?

Make sure you use the Freeway hand stamp to get a quick ride on WT or MF.

We were just there for 3 days a couple of weeks ago and the longest lines were MF & Mantis at around an hour (give or take a few minutes) Raptor seemed to be around 45 minutes all three days.

We never saw longer than 30 minutes on WT. The rest were under 30 minutes.

August will probably be worse, but sometimes you can be surprised and just hit one of those good days.

The thing I like about CP is that I can actually stand the park when there's crowds. Unlike a Six Flags park.

Raptor and MF always have the longest lines during the week.

“If you give a enthusiast a footer.......He’ll want a coaster!!!"

Since you want to ride everything, get there right when the gates open. While everyone else heads for MF and turns left, you don't follow them! Hang a right where Corkscrew flies over the midway and hit Magnum, Gemini (take a peek at Area 51 from the high turnaround & don't forget the handslapping during the day with a full train of people), Mean Streak, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride. Then hop on the train back to the MF/Mantis area. (make sure to look to your right so you don't miss seeing the skeleton humping the fence :))

If they are giving out hand stamps for MF at the Freeway booth (which they should), get in line for them. Pay attention to the time on your hand. Check out the Mantis line and see if it's decent. If it's over an hour, you should probably pass because its lines dwindle in the evening. Now you should start heading back towards everything you skipped when you entered the park.

At this point, you can probably figure out what to do to hit the rest of the rides. Hop on Iron Dragon, Wildcat (If the line is short), Power Tower, Corkscrew. Make the long trek back to the front of the park to see how WT is doing. While you are at the front of the park, you should stop by the Midway Market. It's a buffet with all kinds of great food for just 10 dollars. See how long Raptor's line is after eating. Raptor's line gets near a walk-on in the late afternoons because all of the general public have already hit it, and are now in the back of the park. Make sure to check out DT (even though many don't like it, it's nice for the A/C) Don't miss Blue Streak behind Raptor, or Demon Drop either because even though it doesn't look too bad because PT is so much taller, it will make your stomach jump.

I don't know how much time you'll have left after this, hopefully lots, but you can take it slower and get back in line for the bigger rides you want to ride again.

I know that the FreeWay pass for MF saves you a lot of time, but as a first timer, I think it's better if you wait through the line. It adds to the anticipation of the ride, the train flying by every couple of minutes pumps you up, and you will still have another ride later in the day with only a few minutes wait because of your FreeWay stamp.

Remember that CP is a huge amusement park , and you have to pace yourself. Your feet will hurt after a day in the park if you have done a full day of coastering.

I can't wait to go either, I can take a full day of walking and it will be plenty worth it.

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

Where exactly is the freeway booth? Im visiting CP in august and I want to be sure to get one. Thanks.

Make sure you get MF in the front and Raptor in hte back. Mantis has great visuals in the front so wait for that.

Have Fun and Good Luck!

Where in Indiana does Gammy live? You may be able to squeeze in Indiana Beach and/or Holiday World. Either of those two beat out CP in the Wood Department. Just a suggestion!

Have fun at CP!

She lives in brazil, IN, 30 miles east of terre haute (the place where mcveigh was executed).

What you should do is this: Hit MF once as soon as you enter the park. Head down the Frontier Trail and do MS, Mine Ride, Gemini, and Magnum. If you get there when the park opens and do these right away, these should all be about 5-10 minute waits, if not walk ons. At this point you will have to settle down and wait in some lines. Do whatever you please, but do not make the mistake of waiting for Raptor in the afternoon. If possible, wait til about 6:00pm and the line will not be more than 30-45 minutes (in the afternoon it may be 90-120 minutes). Follow those guidelines and you should have a great day of riding at CP. Enjoy your trip!

thanks
I disagree with most of these strategies. No need to go to Gemini and Magnum early, they have huge capacities! I'd go to the low capacity rides first ie. Mantis and Wildcat. Then you can do whatever you want, but just get those out of the way first.
