Wooden Coaster Surprises

I was wondering if there are any other wooden coasters with surprises BEFORE the lift. My first coaster was the SCBB Giant Dipper, and I still love that coaster because of tunnel. I like SOB's drop before the lift too. Are there any others?

KW'S Pippin/Thunderbolt was the original "drop before the lift" coaster, and still is the best IMO. Phoenix is another great coaster with a tunnel before the lift, while Wolverine Wildcat and Psyclone are terrible ones with pre-lift tunnels...;)

Another obvious choice is Great White with the dive below the pier out of the station.

GhostRider has a small drop out of the loading platform into a fast curve before rounding out 360° heading for the lift.
Hurricane at Myrtle Beach has kind of a diving S-curve before the lift.

When a foursome is on the green, "fore" is not an excuse, "so what" is not an apology, and "up yours" is not an explanation.

The best part, and often thought of as the only good part, of Hercules is the pre-lift section.

I think Shaq once said in an interview (although this could just be urban legend) "I'm going to turn this team around, 360 degrees."

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Most GCIs have a little "suprize" before the lift, for example the HP Wildcat has a very tiny hill before the lift I know that LR and Gwazi have a flyby too before the lift if I remember. SOB has a more exciting one too.

Gator - FYI, Kennywood's own Jack Rabbit pre-dates Pippin/Thunderbolt [1928/64]. And I'm sure there were coaster w/ "surprises" before 1921's Jack Rabbit.

I like the tasty little twisty preview to Roar West before it's lift. Can't think of any others that haven't already been mentioned.

Lol, I'm not sure Ghostrider's drop from the station really compares to some of the others mentioned here.

I do think that Thunderbolt owns this category. A serious drop from the station and a couple more before the lift hill. IMO, it has one of the best woodie layouts ever devised, using the terrain to its advantage.

Both Giant Dippers have great and disorienting tunnels before the lifts. It really causes you to lose sense of direction.

Twisted Sister have a nice little S curve before the lift. Although not wood, many Arrow Mine Trains don't have a lift right at the beginning.

Outlaw has the nice little hops before the lift.

I know this isn't much, but American Eagles turn before the lift, only when going backwards is it fun though.
Let's not forget the tunnel before the lift on the Conneaut Lake Park Blue Streak.

I sure do miss the Idora Wiildcat & Jackrabbit.

Vater, true.... I just mentioned Roar at SFMW. I have only ridden Roar East once, and didn't really recall if they were identical at the beginning. Thanks.

Hey, does anyone have the inside scoop on the whistle they blow on the Giant Dipper. It sounds rather unique. I wonder if it is an original piece of equipment and if other coasters blow a whistle when they dispatch...anyone?
