Wood Coaster Poll Results Done

Whoever put Timbies at the top spot, I congratulate them....(voter fraud)...;)

Shall we just blame the red states?

I would look for Avalanche to move up next year after CoasterCon. Even American Eagle if it runs like it did this year.

Timbers is very tempermental, to say the least. The first two rides we had were total anticipointment. Then we rode later after dark and what a difference. Awsome rides.

I have to say that Legend is the same way. After riding it at an event, riding it during the day is kind of boring. I think that is why it got knocked down on my list.

Frank

By the way Moosh, you spelled my name wrong in your sig and I don't live in Cincinnati. ;)

I think the biggest point Charles Nungester made, and might be the one being overlooked by many, is Timbers runs at its best when most people cannot ride it.

Timbersfest 2002 was extremely awesome. The wood was rainsoaked, and having had all day to run, the thing simply flew...there was no roughness because the darned thing seemed to be floating above the track. Anyone who rode Timbers during that event is likely to place it number one on their list. (Personally, Legend is #1 for me with Timbers at #2).

I have to agree the park isn't all that much, but if you do not take advantage of the waterpark as well, you have no idea what you are missing. That is the biggest draw for MiA.

LOL Frank! Do you have any idea how torturous its been to see the Dragon kit box sitting in my living room for the last few months? I've wanted to open it and play so many times but my willpower prevailed ;)

And why is my beloved Ghostrider not in the top 10. (sob)

You must have not ridden it lately, definitely could use some much needed TLC.

i can't believe that shivering timbers is back at no. 1. in my opinion the legend and boulder dash are the two best woodies period! i will admit that both these coasters are also tempermental. although neather coaster ever gives a mediocre ride even at their worst. i do agree that grizzly is no doubt the worst coaster of all time.

fanofwood - take your personal rankings and combine them with mine and over 400 others. That's what Mitch does. What you get is -- for lack of a better term -- an "average" of all those personal rankings. Just because Timbers made #1 on Mitch's poll doesn't negate how you feel about Legend and Boulder Dash ;)

But you told me it *does* negate how I felt about Timbers and B-Dash.....which is it, Moosh? ;)

bill, filing the legal papers to change my name to Kara Price...:)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

In your case, Bill? It does! ;)
CPLady,

interesting point. I would be curious to see a question like "Is your ranking of this coaster based on riding at an enthusiast event?" Yes/No.

Then, you could calculate to see what percentage of riders' rankings were influenced by what, I would think, would be riding a coaster during its peak condition of maintenance.

I would believe that a coaster being in its top shape for a coaster event would be especially true for the smaller parks.

Later,
EV

All wooden coasters are tempermental. Personally I can't see anyone ranking BD top ten as my rides were well, lets say Wildcat was better :) It got better and better as the day went on and I did like BD but just like Timbers on a normal morning. It was kinda too long and kinda boring not running it's best..

CP Lady, Your right. From the midpoint of each rise to the bottom of each drop, I don't even remember hearing wheel noise on Timbers. Legend and Raven are two kick but woodies and the park does what it can to keep em that way. Call Jeff, Tell him your comming and he'll throw a little extra grease on there :)

I think that this system of rating is better than any other one, so I don't see why y'all are complaining so much. I dunno...

Everything has a WAAAAAAAAAHHHH Factor nowadays :)
How many emails with links to the results has everyone gotten since the results have been tallied? So far I have had 1 or 2 show up each day since for the past week or so. *** Edited 12/12/2004 4:12:50 PM UTC by coasterpunk***

It's amazing how high it did place opening late in a small out of the way park. It beat out Cornball already. While I do like it better than the HW coasters and Phoenix, it would have been too much to expect it to place higher this year. *** Edited 12/12/2004 5:18:58 PM UTC by RavenTTD***
