As the saying goes, "It is finished!" Knott's Berry Farm has finished structural deconstruction of the ill-fated Windjammer. All that remains of the ride is some rubble and some footers. It will take a few more weeks to get the footers all out, then preparations for a new ride can commence.
Magic Mountain is continuing the "detail" work on X and Deja Vu. We also have a video of Thrill Shot in action!
Castle Park is busy constructing its "Dragon Tower" double shot attraction from S&S. Apparently the installation of the ride is so fast that they will be testing within a few days.
The Disneyland Resort has a few things going, signs have been installed on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Play It! And also, the Golden Zephyr has had the ride vehicles removed and all but one set of cables are gone from the attraction.

A bunch of us ran into Jack Falfas a few weeks ago and we mentioned that the surboards that adorned the trains would make great auction items at Winter Solace 2002. He said he'd consider the idea.

To the person who asked when Millionaire opens, it is scheduled to open early next month, with previews and soft openings happening towards the end of this month.

Millionaire is quickly losing ground. ABC has announced already for the 01-02 season that it will cut its 4 millionaire editions down to 2 and if that doesnt do well enough, down to 1. Ratings have fallen so much on the show. If you havent noticed, people are sick and tired of it. ABC was greatly criticized this last season for relying so heavily on it cuz they had a horrible season.
But keep in mind that MANY attractions at theme parks continue to be great despite the fact that the themes they're based on have faded.

nah nah nah nah....
anyways im pretty sure that everyones feelings will be confirmed when knotts 2002 announcement is made.
a hyper, looper, launched, and i believe it might even be a full circut
hey hey hey.... good bye...
nosk8er:
I may be mistaken but I thought the definition of "hyper" included "no inversions." You know...like Magnum, Nitro, Apollo's Charriot, Desperado and so on. Because the 2002 coaster will have what many consider to be an inversion it cannot be considered a hyper coaster in he traditional sense of the word. Besides from my understanding the park is still looking at a hyper for the future.
Anyway the debate will probably continue. But I can confirm this for you: it is a full-circuit coaster.

What was up with the Ninja footers that looked like they were about to fall off the edge of the concrete? Anyone have an idea?

"Grilled Steak Taco from Taco Bell!!"
As for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Play It!, I don't think the success of the attraction will depend too heavily on the success of the actual show. People will want to go and play... it's their chance to be in the hot seat... lord knows I wanna do it! I have my preview tickets for a show on the 23rd and I'm very excited to get a chance to try and make the hot seat. So we'll see. The ratings may have fallen, but they're still very strong for the show, so public knowledge and general association are still strong for the attraction. Let's face it "Is that your final answer" has become a bit of a catch phrase (along with "You are the weakest link... goodbye!").
I think the attraction will be fun, and who knows, maybe some day we'll still get Armageddon in that spot...

it looks like the footer was originally submerged in water, but who knows. what kind of coaster do you think knotts will build, knowing that a 6 year picked the colors?!
actually knotts is getting a vertigo type ride, with 50's style cars, construction to start soon.
04Noooooooooooooooonooooooooooooonoonononnononononononononononon no. I swear, this ride better be a hyper or a full curcit, or I'll seriously cry. And it better be heavily themed, not usual themed, I want this to be a full out ride......
........ over a man-made beach..................called Something like Tiki Tyrant or Big Kahuna...........opening in the beggining of 2002 or summer of 2002.
Dont worry OCHSA Bud, twiztid_coasters was incorrect with his information. Knotts will be getting a Vertago attraction. But that will be over where the haunted shack once stood. A full circut coaster by Intamin will be built on the old Windjammer spot.
"actually knotts is getting a vertigo type ride, with 50's style cars, construction to start soon." - twistid_coasters
I think you got things mixed up. These are two totally different things. A while back, the Haunted Shack was removed which left some empty space. In that empty space, a VertiGo ride will be constructed which has started recently. With WindJammer gone, that will leave another empty space. This leaves room for a steel full circuit coaster which is said to be by Intamin. Those 50's style cars are rumored to be the design of the new coaster's cars. With all of that said, Knott's is getting two new things. VertiGo will open this year in the Haunted Shack's spot and the rumored Intamin coaster is for next year in WindJammer's spot. Knott's will look good in the future with all these new changes.
