Will the Po!nt Concede its 'Record'?

I won't be sad to see WWL go.

As for who has the record, I really don't care anymore.

I think they will concede the record for a year or 2 (unless they have a water coaster up their sleeve to replace WWL.) I am thinking they are going to change up their advertising quite a bit with the new ad company next year. They need to run a more family friendly ad campaign.

They lost the record for a year when Magic Mountain put in three coasters in one year.

...but Cedar Po!nt came back with a vengence & tossed in Wicked Twister & TTD as a back-to-back year of coasters.

...I think they may put in a new one next year, but it may be nothing spectacular. Something may take the place of Demon Drop, as well as another location that may be marked off...

...so instead of 1 new flat, I am guessing they may have 1 new flat (good for the family & everyone) and one new coaster (not of record breaking status) to keep the appeal of the thrill seekers (and claim to fame).

I would (will?) be sad to see WWL go, unless another flume were built soon after. As for the record, who cares? Leave it for the PR hacks; I assume they will continue to make some similar claim, though, because that's what they do.

Do you guys get this worked up about "No new taxes" or "I did not have sexual relations with that woman?" Expecting park PR people to show more honesty than one does from the government may be a slight case of misplaced priorities.

Wicked Twister is still operating as of last night. I suspect it may stay open simply because Dragster seems to be done for the season. Just my .02.

Just launch the train...and nobody will get hurt!
Would it have closed if Dragster was still running? I'm not sure I follow that...does it always go down this time of year or something?

OMG I have a new sig!!!
No it doesn't close this time of year. I have no idea what they are talking about.

I think its a dumb idea when they basically have the same thing (MaXair) and that was put in for this year.

Dumb or not, it's possible and it's gonna happen. Cedar Point's sister park Knott's Berry Farm did the exact same move, except on a miniature scale. Their Chance Revolution 32 ride La Revolucion (CP's HUSS Giant Frisbee maXair) was followed up by the 8-seater Screamin' Swing a year later (CP's 40 seater S&S Screaming Swing).

Yes but Knott's is an upcharge attraction. I could see a Screamin' Swing in Challenge Park but tha is still dumb. Why would you play 5 bucks extra to ride a Screamin Swing when you already have Maxair in the price of the admission.

I think the point was that Wicked Twister wasn't originally scheduled to operate on Friday nights of bonus/Halloweekends.

And if you can find the "N" symbol on the blog photos, rotate them, then find the high resolution satellite image of the park floating around, you can match the two up.

I'll be sure to ride White Water Landing before the park closes this year.

What about the Antique Cars? Should I be ridding that too before the park closes?

Wicked Twister was not to run at all after Labor Day, but due to Dragster being down, will continue to run. For how long? No idea. It costs too much to run daily, I guess.

I'll be making sure to take a ride on White Water Landing before the end of the year as well, Although I don't think they'll be adding a ride to the site this offseason.

I have that high resolution satellite image posted at http://www.bholcomb.com/cedarpointaerial.jpg

if S:TE is a coaster, then so is Demon Drop.
.. Then so is Freefall at Magic Mountain. And if you consider all of those coasters and CP takes Demon Drop out- Well, you know the rest.

The Swing is going in next to Snake River Falls, so I have no idea how that particular ride will have anything to do with the flume closing. If there's another ride going in, I haven't heard about it yet.

Unless SFMM gets Flashback up and running (which sounds unlikely if there's no POWER to the ride), then I think CP and SFMM would theoretically still be tied.

Danny, it sounds like Jeff may know a reason why WWL is going bye-bye...not saying *I* know anything, or even that Jeff knows anything....but he *might*... ;)

Who says B&M is DONE announcing rides for the year? ;)
B&M doesn't announce the rides, the parks do. :P

Joe "so they must be done announcing then!" C.

Generally parks like to announce before the season closes, to get a jump start on next year's SP sales...

LOL, CP will announce a taller faster loopier B&M flyer the day after SFMM announces, going in place of WWL...just to mess with enthusiasts! No competition my butt! :)

It would be more interesting than following SFGAm's trends in the 90s.. Wait, I didn't say anything. ;)
