Will The Next Version Of C-Buzz Forums Be Like P-Buzz?

I didn't notice anyone suggesting or asking this yet...

...but will the next version of the Coasterbuzz forums be similar in any way like PointBuzz's forums where each individual will be able to have a small avatar on the right? It definately adds a little individuality to each person.

It looks like an interesting addition, and doesn't appear like it'll add too much to the bandwidth since it's similar as to how the signature lines work, taking it from your profile.

He has the ability to add it right now I believe. Its just a matter of using the "Feature UI" he has and configuring it to look like CB's current design.

However, it would increase bandwidth usage noticably because the avatars must be uploaded and are therefore hosting locally, using bandwidth.

I would personally hate avatars on C-Buzz. Things look great the way they are now, why clutter it up?

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Well, you would be able to hide them. On our accout page now, it has a check mark box to hide vanity items.

I think it would be a cool addition. Not like most message boards where people have giant images in their signatures and everything, taking up a s**tload of space...just a small avatar or somethin like that, something either simple or a bit more complex, and make it optional too. That would make peeps happy, and I could come up with something I'd use. Is there any way to combine pro wrestling, roller coasters, NASCAR, and Metallica into an avatar? ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Lord Gonchar's avatar
James Hetfield racing TTD's lead car around an oval track inside a WWE ring?

Lars piledriving Kirk from the top of MF onto Jeff Gordon's car?

Just some suggestions :)

I'm not saying that I don't like avatars, because I use them elsewhere, I just don't see them fitting in here. Coasterbuzz's image has always been that clean look with no things to distract you like avatars and large signatures.

The option to hide avatars & signatures is a fantastic idea... it's one of the best things about the Pointbuzz forums.

I personally don't mind avatars while browsing from a DSL or cable broadband connection, but I they can get quite annoying if you are on a dial-up.

If you guys wanna add the feature to a future version of Coasterbuzz, I'm all for it!

Gonchar...LMFAO at the image of Lars and Kirk!

I agree with Genetic Freak, the buzz is just fine without avatars & always has been...it's like the old beer slogan, tastes great less filling.

Of course another maxim comes to mind as well & that is if it isn't broken don't fix it.

If you do a search, you'll probably find a topic from a few months ago where Jeff posed the avatar question. The response was overwhelmingly "no", which is why you don't see them here.

I've got news for you... you're using the same version of the forums that are on PointBuzz, and have been for months. I just tweaked the UI to work the way people here generally wanted it to. I may remove certain elements from PB as well if they become too much of a distraction.

As a general rule I think that they're unnecessary, but I must add that my Poopsmith avatar on Kennywood Boulevard is quite dashing!

(How about Jeff Gordon throwing Lars off of the top of TTD whilst listening to some illegaly downloaded music?)
