Does anyone think that Cedar Point's Gemini will ever run one forward running train and onr backward running train? I noticed that most of the other twin track roller coasters do this. I think that it would at a added thrill to the already great ride.

Why Must they use Mulch? It smells like pooh!
That would be cool! I don't see why they couldn't...

I don't know if i would like a bakwards gemini. I mean, that drop is INSANE as it is. it is an Arrow, and we all know some of them have a hard enough time running FORWARD

The ride is already horrible, it might as well run backwards.
My question is, why has CF built more of these type of coasters for their other parks. It's a huge capacity eater, and still the most entertaining coaster in the park.

There is no such thing as inner peace. There is only nervousness and death.
I doubt it due to problems that might arise with turning Arrow Trains around.
1. Managers at CP have expressed that for one, they just don't want to do it. The thing was designed to run forwards, and that's how it is.
2. I've heard all of the technical explanations, but apperently, unlike, say, the PTC trains on the paramount racing woodies, there would have to be some hefty train modifications to make arrow trains run backwards. I'm not exactly sure of the details, but its been explained a number of times how the trains differ.

I like it just the way it is. :)

Not only would the trains have to be modified, but you would likely disrupt some very picky motion dynamics. Remember, the ride is notorious for rolling back from the second hill even when loaded with sandbags. Make subtle changes in the weight distribution and you're asking for trouble.
Frankly, I don't think it would be comfortable anyway. Those track transitions aren't nearly as smooth as those found on virtually any woodie.

Jeff's right (except for Mean Squeak), though I think Raven-Phile and Z-man need to re-evaluate their opinions. This is one of the most enjoyable, family coasters in existence. Not to mention AGAIN that it's the highest capacity coaster in the world. You have to love the hand slapping and HUGE hidden drop halfway through, plus the great mine train-ish helix!
Good suggestion though.Check out Joker's Revenge in Texas. I LOVE backwards coasters!

Well, seeing as the only coaster you have ridden is Nitro, it really wouldn't be fair for you to say. I don't know many people who can ride Gemini without it putting a smile on their face.

Damn, I'm Feeding The Trolls Again.
I think that Gemini is one of the smoothest coasters out there!! They should leave it just the way it is now, perfect!

I hate to brake this to you, Whodaman, but Gemini is actually a
steel coaster. Although the structure is made from wood, the rails are made of the same tubular steel design that Magnum and any other steel coaster use. This is the same setup that most mine trains use (which is basically what Gemini is a glorified version of).

Did you realize that Theme Park Nacho cheese isn't really cheese?
gemini is not considered a woodie.
how many people does gemini put through in an hour???
People would fall out of that thing going backwards, it's crazy to think about. OK, maybe people wouldn't fall out, but they probally would come close to it:). Backwards is cool, I tried my first wooden backwards a few weeks ago, and have been on the shuttle loop before, but think some rides just shouldn't be turned around(Joker's Revenge, that's a Vekoma(?) designed backwards, scary), IMO, the Gemini is one of them. If the ride was weak, I could see them doing or thinking about it. Maybe some wooden racers get turned around to make them more exciting.
Mine Trains are awesome, and I think some of the trains on newer Trains come with a couple of backwards rows, that's something I'm looking forward to.
According to Roller Coaster Database, Gemini's hourly rider capacity is 1650. It seems to me that the capacity should be higher then that though.
As it goes for the design of the coaster and if it could in fact go backwards. It makes me think of Paramount's Carowinds Thunder Road, that roller coaster was not built to go backwards, however the park was able to do it. That ride is also very intense running forward, that is only my opition though.
