Will Coasterbuzz Ever Get a New Logo?

DawgByte II's avatar

Just a thought...

Every year or two, web sites, manufactures, products, companies and the such sometimes like to upgrade their packaging with the changing times. Sometimes they change their font, make it more edgy or fancy... sometimes they offer different pictures of the same product to give it a little style... or sometimes they create a new logo, to breathe new life.

My question: Will Coasterbuzz ever get a new updated logo that's brand spanking new?? No offense against this one... it's all fine & dandy, but it'd be nice to see a change since it's essentially the same one since the site first began 3 years ago, and this site has grown by leaps & bounds since then to have soo many off-spring sites... not to mention it'd also probably have a spike in T-Shirt sales (;)) among other repercussions.

I think the logo is fine. C Buzz has found a nice image to prove it's own identity.

Some sites feel that you have to drastically change their entire image year after year, or visits could cease. Not the case here.

CB is a news and discussion site with special features, those day-to-day updates and discussions are fine enough and continue to increase traffic.

Don't fix what doesn't need fixing.

I think Jeff should follow these guidelines in designing Cbuzz and GTTP.

I put the "D" in DDR.

True MooreOn... ;) Isn't that how ALL websites should be designed? ;)

Seriously though, I'm deep in thought about such matters now. I really wanted to have a new site up by its third birthday (January 30), but I'm not very optimisitc that's going to happen. We'll see.

I find nothing wrong with the logo... after the site being up for three years, that logo is fairly recognizable. Usually, a company changes a logo when it needs a new identity or needs to draw some much-needed attention to itself. I don't see CB having to to either.

Jeff,

I think that the current logo is fine the way it is. It's well known throughout the coaster community now. If you were to change it I wouldnt change it to drastically. Maybe a new coaster car design for the little guy or something along those lines.

as for the new site design, will we be seeing alot of new features added? I like the new version of Pop Forums that your using over at GTTP. Im assuming that would be the biggest improvement for Coasterbuzz?

Also, last night to try and past the off season I decided to start my own little site for The Great Escape theme park here in Lake George, NY. Ive got the main layout pretty much done, and ive taken a screenshot. I was just wondering if you could give me some input as to what you think so far? here's a link to the image: http://home.nycap.rr.com/greese1/geonline.jpg

feedback from yourself or anyone would be greatly appreciated.

(ive shruken the image to 50% because the full image was extremely large incase others within a non broadband connection wanted to view it)

Looks fine to me. Consistant navigation and colors that don't assault you are really the basics to stick to.

As far as improvements go, well, I don't want to say, because I can't promise it'll all pan out!

Yeah, some companies change their logos every two years... but what purpose does that serve? the whole point of a logo is so that people recognize it, and make associations with it without having to to be told. If you keep changing it, how will people recognize it? The most succesful logos can last for the better part of a century: Ford, Coca-Cola, Volkswagon, NBC, Disney, and others have all trancended generations with the same logo. In my humble opinoin, the logo should stay. If it's going ot change, I agree with CalvinJ23: Variations on the same theme would work best.
Heh, when it comes to changing company names, cell phone companies come to mind... and a Simpsons episode that I can't exactly recall ;)

I think that the Coasterbuzz logo is one of the better logos out there.

I say the site's colors need to be changed. It looks to white.

I like the colors my self. Of course, I've been accused of bleeding Green and White when cut also.

GO SPARTANS!

I think you should add bottom and side wheels to the car, but keep the rest the same -------------
I like SF,other parks might be better. But is it really my fault I live in texas?

I just don't like that huge open mouth. I wouldn't mind seeing something different, but seeing how I can't think of a logo for myself or even know about making one once I have an idea my opinion really shouldn't count.

Alright. Graphic Designer here, one with a formal degree from one of the best design schools in the country. Not trying to impress, just establishing some credibility.

First off, it's fine to discuss something you don't have a firm understanding of, but don't try to act like you do, simply throwing out buzz words you've picked up somewhere. I can't even begin to describe my laughter.

Second, a well designed logo doesn't happen overnight. The amount of detail and research that goes into a good one, meaning one created for the purpose of brand recognition, is beyond comprehension for most.

Third, assuming Jeff has no formal design degree, he's done an ok job, at least on the navigation. And he keeps it simple, not that simple is always the correct solution, but for those without a formal design education, that's smart. As he says, "not offensive."

Fourth, let the man do with the site what he wishes.

Fifth, go ahead, flame away.

but the logo is unreal looking.Looks like the track is just ramps. I do like the person srceming throught.
When I first started coming to this site, I originally thought the logo was just a person. I thought the green car was his body and track was the feet. I remember seeing a topic about this a long time ago where somebody explained the logo and thats when I finally realized it was a coaster car on a track.

I personally like the logo though. If Jeff did want to change it, I would hope he doesn't change it that much, because like others have said it has come to be a very reconizeable logo.
