why would they leave track on the beach? its safe for the track cause it is soft?
I was also going to ask that and why so close to the water?

Actually, Lake Erie (like all of the lakes) DO have "low" and "high" tides, but they are not nearly to the extent that the oceans have.

Lake Erie gets violent so quickly due to the fact that it's the shallowest of the Great Lakes.

I don't doubt CP has done their research and engineering for WT, but having lived on the shores of Lake Erie for a majority of my life, I really have to wonder.

Sarcasm?  Where? :)

I have seen plenty of coasters that have rust on the tracks.

Ok, any park that respects their rides would not let them rust.... maybe I can get away with that statement? :)

Or how about...the track won't rust from a little water washing up on it one time. However, it will rust from water getting on it on several occasions and through wear and tear over many years. They will rust regardless of the park respecting them. However parks that respect their coasters will re-paint them when it is needed...just like CP with Raptor last year, and Mantis (possibly Maggie) this year. :)

Sept. 11th 2001, Slayer released God Hates Us All. The song "Disciple" uncannily describes the events of that day, as well as the antrax letters that followed.

If the water did hit the track, do you think the track could possibly start rusting?

Oh come on!  WT was built 300 ft high.  It's already sunk... ;)
it was built only 300 ft high?  darn, I thought it was 500 ft tall and traveled at the speed of sound.  geeze, what a disapointment.  CP always seems to be the underacheiver.  its like they say to themselves, "if we aim low, we can't disapoint ourselves or our customers."  come on, CP!  grow a pair and wow us for once!

Magnum definitely needs a paintjob.

The track was probably laid on the beach because it is an open area available near the construciton site.

I think that Intamin track won't float, though it depends on exactly how thick the tube walls are.

Short exposure to lake water is unlikely to cause any real corrosion issues.

The bull dozer is probably there because that's where the driver stopped.

FINALLY mantis is being painted!!!!

They even say the lake is coming close. I see the control room pics (reminds me of a hospital). Is that part going to be below the station?

Wouldn't the salt eat away at the track though?

hello..there is no salt in lake erie...it's fresh water.

the dozer is there to prevent large waves from crashing into those particular pieces of track.  winds can get strong to create large waves that WOULD reach those pieces.  with the dozer there, it is acting as a breaker to slow the water down.  i'm over here on lake michigan and we get waves that can reach 20 feet up onto the beach.  they can and do get large.  if the track is sealed, then i would imagine that the track could easily slip into the lake...anyone ever seen an aircraft carrier when it's being towed out to deep water?  they ride high with little displacement and they are much heavier than that track per square foot.  just my 2 cents worth.
