Wicked Twister Photo

Look at this photo: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill/2002/wt/construction/picture.cfm?id=111.

What is the bulldozer gaurding? Is it making sure water doesn't hit the track, or someone trying to steal(very unlikely) or vandalize it?

I just saw that too!  I don't have an idea what that 'doser is doing.  Maybe they're going to wash the track
I'm not too sure about what the bulldozer is doing there, but I wonder what would happen if the track got pulled out into the lake when the tide came in.
It's problaby guarding the pieces of track from the lake.

You see all of that white water? That's pretty rare, especially on that side of the breakwall. The wind coming off of the lake was pretty serious, thus the water coming that far up the beach. When I stood between those two track sections last week it was still some distance to the water.

It is probably just there to make sure the water doesnt come and take the track into the water with the tide.

Maybe if enough water comes in it will float away or maybe he was just joking and it was jst there for some reason?

I guess some of you guys kind of missed the sarcasm in that... :)

And to add to that, I really don't see how Intamin track would float...

Flying High Again.

I don't think a piece of track that weighs well over a ton would float. I think it would sink...thus the rumors start Wicked Twister is sinking!!!
Plus, you would have to have some pretty big winds to move that piece of track, and to get that water to move the track.  But if you got that big of winds I don;t think the big problem would be the track sinking, the problem would be the track blowing all through the park and destroying anything in it's path.  But I don't think winds that powerful exists.

If the water did hit the track, do you think the track could possibly start rusting?

Lol, Wicked Twister sinking, thats a new one!

Um I dont think any roller coaster track would rust, they are made to be in the rain

I see about the rust now, why was I so stupid I still can't understand. Sometimes my brain just leaves my head.

Think again:

Al steel coasters rust regardless of manufacturer. Some parks take care of it better than others.

Also, wicked twister is painted, batman: the ride is rusting because there's no paint on that track. it probably got worn off by the trains.

also, lake erie doesn't have tides... it's a great lake (i live on lake huron) and we don't get tides in the great lakes...

Pardon my ignorance, I haven't got access to an atlas at the moment. Is Lake Erie salt or fresh water? That makes a big difference in how quickly coasters get rusty.

It is fresh water, and generally fairly calm, nothing like the ocean.

The lake can get nasty though, that's for sure. Several years ago the winter lake just trashed the walkway between Breakers and Sandcastle (behind Soak City). The water and ice got the best of it and washed some of it out, the erosion only a few feet from Magnum's footers.

It can get ugly, but one day of it isn't something to worry about.
