Why not another Millenium Force?

48,000,000$? Sorry... but that was 25 millions for MF, not 48! Steel Dragon 2000 was said to be 51 millions (converted from yens to US$) when it opened in 2000.

My bad, I heard on Discovery Channel it was 48 million. I looked on the website, and the $25 million is correct. I've been lied to for the past 5 years. I'm going after the Discovery Channel for this.

It's still a lot of money when you can get a terrific hyper for half that. I love Millie last row late at night, but a SFNE SROS clone would be even better.
Or a stateside EGF.

Millennium Force is the best rollercoaster on the planet IMO. You can disagree with that but to think it's not powerful and boring, then 99% of coasters will be boring to me. To me, everything about that ride is absolutely perfect.

I'm not surprised we haven't seen more MF's because of their size and price, but I am surprised that we haven't seen many rides like S:ROS at SFNE and Goliath at Walibi World.

I guess that Intamin came out with the Rocket so fast after MF, and around 2000 parks were getting hyper coasters so it just has worked out this way. That's what makes MF so special. It's a hellava lot more fun and rerideable than TTD.

I know what people see in the ride, the experience is amazing, but it isn't my type of ride. I like a coaster that gives a 'out of control' type feeling. Main reason why I really like Raptor and TTD. TTD gives a crazy ride from beginning to end and while riding Raptor I can never tell what way is up, down, left or right. MF's first three hills are amazing, but after that the speed never lets up the intensity does. That's my though on things.

Intamin clearly makes the most orginal and inovative designs, but they can't prove to anybody that they can be reliable. Their Hyper/Giga's, Impulse's, and Rockets all are crowd favorites when they're working properly. Just look at any top ten list.

If only B&M would ever venture out into making a reliable launching system and take a few risk here and there. Launching coasters seem to be a hit.

I'm glad there aren't more coasters like MF. But I agree with the point about "why build a short rocket coaster for the same money that could get you a much longer, reliable and overall better ride like SROS". Of course, I wonder the same thing about impulses and to a degree, steel roller coasters in general. :)
