Why no Wild Mice, Six Flags?

I think Vertigo nailed this one. The mice coasters definately fall into the family realm of coasters when you are dealing with the major parks. That said, other than PKI, there aren't that many parks bursting at the seams with family oriented coasters.

A lot of the SF parks have gotten a family coaster lately and they have come in the form of Rollerskaters and Zierer coasters and not mice. Maybe the next expansion in the family realm will be some mice, or maybe they will be more akin to Reptar.

IMO the parks that could most benefit from the mice would be the medium sized parks that don't have a lot to offer for the kids/families. Like SFStL. They have an old standard kiddie model and a mine train that could be considered family coasters. A nice mouse would provide some great thrill for the utes and some nice filler for the adults.

Batwing Boy, listen up, Amusement Advantage is not a publication of any sort, nor is it public. Uh-uh, don't speak I know just what you're saying, but I can't tell you any more info about it. There is a website, but browsers don't get that far in the industry's files...

Ok, you guys seem to be experts on why mice would be so great for SF parks, and yet, they aren't building them are they?

That was m only point. I was giving a reason why, not my personal opinion...

Didn't SFKK add their mouse after SF took over?

Since when has Six Flags cared about capacity? SFNE ropes off seats on some of their coasters when the lines get too short, do they not?

No, they don't. Never has that happened at SFNE. At least not in the past season, and I seriously, seriously doubt any other season.

-----------------
If the shoe fits, find another one.

This is what I heard they do from an number of people who "claim to know"... when I went to the park in late August, the Cyclone had four rows of seats roped off (second and fifth cars of the train), and it wasn't for FastPass. I find it hard to believe that four rows of seats had non-working restraints on that train- if that was the case, why wasn't the other train being used, either alone or with the other one?! No coaster (and I mean NO coaster) had two trains runnng, which leads me to believe that the park was making every effort possible to keep the wait for each coaster between 45 minutes and an hour. Why? I have no idea.

I must say that, while I am not usually as harsh about SF operations as some others, I have never, EVER seen as poorly run a park as SFNE.

Please, wild mice are not a kiddie ride. While they are small, they are very frightening to children. I speak from experience. When I was 8 I rode one of the first mice expecting it to be a kiddie coaster. Scared the **** out of me. (Select the explicative of your choice)

lol Jim, I'm still waiting for my chance to ride a mouse most likely it'll be PKD's Ricochet when I go down there next season.

Rob didn't SFNE have a no seat choice rule back in the Riverside days? I've read about it somewhere, they said that rides on Cyclone were pretty brutal because of it,I'm wondering if the park currently has this policy in effect, although I doubt that they still do.

Still it's a real problem capacity wise if they aren't making an effort to fill all available seats, perhaps it's a conspiracy to sell more Q-Bots.

Regarding the Cyclone, its not a no-choice-of-seats policy, but rather random-selected cars being roped off for no apparant reason. I have seen individual SEATS roped off at parks when there is a problem with the lap bar or seat belt, but not entire CARS.

You are probably right... I'm sure that SFNE was making an effort to sell more Q-Bots. And I was wrong... Superman did have two trains running, but ALL of the other coasters had one train- even Batman, which is their new coaster!

I have had many great experiences at SFGAdv and two wonderful days at SFWoA this past summer alone, making me wonder why SF always gets bashed around here. Then I went to SFNE and found out why. The park was dirty, expensive, and crowded, with inattentive employees, a handful of restroom and subpar food. It gave amusement parks in general a bad name.

Rob you must have gone to SFNE at the wrong time. WHen I have been to the park I thought it was very clean, beautiful, most of the ride-ops were kind and trying their hardest, and yet the park was still crowded.

Back on topic... I think that SF just isn't willing to spend the money on a wild mouse that will only draw families. Why not but two or more family coasters rather than spending the money on one wild mouse. It gives them more of a coaster count and still cheaply pleases the family.

Well Wild mice are low capacity rides and SF parks have a lot of people, so the line would always be very long. Even at family parks (Canobie) the wild mouse ride always has one of the longest if not the longest line.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

Then how do you explain them building rides like Déjà Vu and V2?

I think we covered that already KraXLeRidah.

Six Flags would be wise to draw on families...they spend more once inside the park than the crowd they are currently catering to: teens.

They suck?

Exactly Brandon. It would just be one more overbraked ride at SFMM at least. ;)

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Actually, I'm in partial agreement to the "They suck." Out of the 4 mice I've ridden, the 2 Maurer-Sohne models I've been on (NY State Fair and Dorney) were quite dull and uninteresting. However, the Exterminator and the L & T Systems mouse at Jazzland are excellent.

Give me a Mine train or Vekoma Rollerskater anyday over the current crop of toothless wonders known as mice. A few nice hairpin turns usually turns into a snooze-fest with enough brakes to make you feel mom was afraid to cut loose with the shopping cart.

I know these are family rides, but I'm part of the "family", so I get a vote(shut up Moosh). ;)

Mice that definitely do NOT "suck": BTW, we must get around to raising the vocabulary level 'round hyeah...

Exterminator tops the list....all about the theming

MiA's Wild Mouse.....BANKED turns, what a concept!

Hershey's mouse....Where's the overbraking?

I've heard good things about Primeval Whirl (next week?), and the mice at the smaller southeastern parks....trip next year possibly, esp. with Lake Winnie, Rampage's park (which I'm unable to *see* under any other name), SFNO (Jazzland, Marie Laveaux's), etc.

(and, given 500K and an offseason at SFKK, I can say with some certainty that you *could* add RRE to that list)...

Mice suck? Has anyone ever been on a lackluster Crazy Mouse?

If Exterminator counts as a "Crazy Mouse" then yes. Sorry, mice not named Mickey do nothing for me. I've ridden two of the most acclaimed mouse coasters, Exterminator and HERSHEYPARK's Wild Mouse and neither of them was what I would consider outstanding. I'm just not a big fan of hairpin turns...unless your in an automobile :)

Now, if you want a cool little family ride, check out "Bobsleds" @ Seabreeze in Rochester, NY. THAT was good family fun!
