why no giga's

why after 3 years is their still only one gigga in the us while some other country is getting a 400 foot coaster. I know they are expensive and take up a lot of space but i can think of a lot of parks that could use one like IOA or any parramount

NUTS - National Union of Thrill Seekers! [Brought to you by the maker of 'LoCoSuMo!']

He means continuos circuit giga, like MF or SD2k. Maybe, just nobody really wants them. Most of the gp don't know what a giga or hyper is, they'll just want to ride that tall one right over there. They don't need to because the gp will come just for a hyper and barely know the difference.

True, there are plenty of people who think Titan or Nitro are the tallest coasters in the world. Certainly a lot easier to pull off a 200+ ft ride than a 300+ one and you get basically the same returns.

I think that there are probably a few different reasons why this is.

1) Zoning regulations wont allow it.

2) FAA airspace regulations wont allow it.

3) Cost cant be justified.

4) It took several years before anyone other than Cedar Point had a hyper coaster so why would it not take a few years for any park that can justifiably put a giga-coaster in.

Anyone else care to add in there 2 cents feel free.

Which country is getting a 400 ft. coaster?
None. He's talking about the Heide Park project that has been abandoned.
why exactly was that project abandoned? i remember reading that it was some type of space issue, but im not sure.
lmao, I thought the title said something else!!!!!!!

Also probaly cause of height restrictions in alot of places.

Japan has Steel Dragon, finished shortly after (I believe) Millennium Force was completed. The difference is MF has the elevator lift system, and Steel Dragon has a regular chain lift.

It is pretty much because of the cost and Hyper Coasters are still getting around. A giga was built for CP, but it was 11 years after there hyper was built.

Can't, 200 foot ceiling unless the ride fits certain requirements, of which Universal think may ruin some rides' appeal.

I have a strange feeling we could be seeing at least one more 'giga' coaster in the US next year depending on what you would consider a giga. No explanation, just a feeling.

The money, well, they would need a ton of it as well.
Nope, try a giga version of Xcelerator...

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Or what about a 300 foot version of Hypersonic? I definately think the next 300 footer will be a launched coaster ala S&S, Premier or Intamin.
How about a 300 foot version of LoCoSuMo :~D. All those tight drops and sharp drops all at 95mph!!!!!

Giga who? Giga what?

Interesting Sean, I have the same hunch that we can expect to see another 300 ft. tall coaster in the States before too long. ;)
