I think that there are probably a few different reasons why this is.
1) Zoning regulations wont allow it.
2) FAA airspace regulations wont allow it.
3) Cost cant be justified.
4) It took several years before anyone other than Cedar Point had a hyper coaster so why would it not take a few years for any park that can justifiably put a giga-coaster in.
Anyone else care to add in there 2 cents feel free.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone
Japan has Steel Dragon, finished shortly after (I believe) Millennium Force was completed. The difference is MF has the elevator lift system, and Steel Dragon has a regular chain lift.

why after 3 years is their still only one gigga in the us while some other country is getting a 400 foot coaster. I know they are expensive and take up a lot of space but i can think of a lot of parks that could use one like IOA or any parramount-----------------

Can't, 200 foot ceiling unless the ride fits certain requirements, of which Universal think may ruin some rides' appeal.

I have a strange feeling we could be seeing at least one more 'giga' coaster in the US next year depending on what you would consider a giga. No explanation, just a feeling.

Interesting Sean, I have the same hunch that we can expect to see another 300 ft. tall coaster in the States before too long. ;)
