YOUNGSTOWN 2010
Hydraulic fluid is pumped into an accumulator. This is storage tank with compressed air on top of the fluid to maintain pressure. The air acts as a kind of spring. When the train is launched, fluid is released to a large number (about 20?) hydraulic motors that drive the cable drum. The cable pulls the catch car which is in turn attached to the train and pulls it. At the end of the acceleration. the catch car stops and the train continues. Brake fins for the magnetic brakes pop up immediately after the train passes to act as anti rollbacks.
And, I haven't heard anything about exactly what is broken other than some vague rumours that the issue might be related to things falling off the trains. But that is only a vague, unsupported rumour.
I find it fascinating that you respect my right to defend CP, yet you attempt to attack my character with a barrage of rude, insinuating questions. I found far more disrespect in your last post directed at me.
Anyway, I defend whatever park I think is worthy of my defense. True, I used to be a seasonal employee at CP. However, anyone who knows me also knows that I disagreed with the way a number of things were done at the park when I worked there. Things have changed at the park since then, and I now have a newfound respect for the way they handle their business, marketing or otherwise. I can’t speak for whatever current employees you spoke to, but it is obvious that they are disgruntled seasonals much like I once was – no current full-timer would ever tell you that their ads are rude or ridiculous. In any case, TTD reopened today. We’ll all see if the beast operates reliably or not.

Who wrote this? Who is participating in character assasination here? Might this be an insinuating statement? Or was somebody else attacked as irrational? I don't mind a little good natured back and forth! I would just hope that those who live in glass houses........................
We obviously got off on the wrong foot here TCKR! I apologize for any hurt feelings I may have caused! I am a rather direct and opinionated person. This can rub some wrong. But oh what a boring message board if everybody agrees on every issue! You appear to have the same type of personality as I do. I'm sure on many issues of the day, we could get along just fine! :-) You perceived my questions as "rude and insinuating"! I saw some of the same qualities in your posts! I saw my questions as legitimate questions that bolstered my argument! I'm sure you feel the same about your posts! Frankly, nobody has been able to demonstrate where the line should be drawn. We all make that decision on our own! My threshhold perception on when the line of deceitful advertisement is crossed must be lower than yours! We can go back and forth indefinately or we can stop the madness! Frankly, I'm over it! I've stated my opinion about 4 too many times already! Can't we just be friends?.................:-)
I see TTD is up and running! I sincerely hope for all parties (Cedarfair, those who defend Cedarfair, whiners like me, etc.) involved, that this is the last time we ever have to talk about lenghty downtime! As I've said before, I'm starting a new vaction fund to get there in the fall to ride TTD! How mad could I be? Certainly not enough to thumb my nose at 420 feet and 120 mph! God bless CP for pushing the envelope on this one! But %^&*** them for their marketing (sorry---couldn't help myself)! You lucky ones who can get there quicker please keep me updated!

Believe it or not, I agree! I think that you and I would get along famously. We would most certainly make a killer debate team!
With regard to my comment about "rational people", I meant no ill will toward you personally and I apologize if you construed it as such. In fact, I think that you are one of the more rational people to have recently signed up on this board. My comment was based solely on my work experience at CP Guest Services.
In any case, much like yourself, I'm spent on this subject! However, I look forward to reading your opinions regarding future topics of discussion, and I sincerely hope that you have a chance to enjoy TTD this fall. :)
