Why is Cedar Point such an amazing place?

Okay, Dave said this in the "What's Wrong w/ CP?" thread, but let's look at the positive about CP.

1. It's got something for everyone. You've got big thrill rides ( MF, TTD, Magnum), some classics (Blue Streak, Cedar Downs), some things even Grandman can ride (Ferris Wheel, Observation tower), and a good swath of famlity rides (Iron Dragon, Snake River).

2. The location. It's within three hours of many major cities, plus it's on the lake. Oh yeah, you can get there by boat as well.

3. In your best Sarah Palin voice: "I can see Canada from the top of Millenium Force!"

4. The varitey of coasters. You can ride classic wood, hybrid coasters, and new steel all in the same day. 17 coasters for all!

5. There are worse places than Sandusky. ;)

I agree. CP is a great place with good atmosphere and awesome rides. I've had a lot of history at CP and it is my favorite park.

BTW, Palin never said "I can see Russia from my house". That was Tina Fey.

^Palin didn't say it in those words, but when she was interviewed while running as vice president, if she has foreign policy experience, she stated that she does because "you can see Russia from Alaska" or something along those lines.

Bottomline: Palin did make a stupid statement like that.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

-Its got my #2, #4, and #5 steel coasters.

-Its huge, infact at least using Google Earth's measurement feature, it is the same length to walk from CP's main entrance to Maverick as it is to walk from Epcot's main entrance to the American Adventure (and yes, that is using the distance walking around World Showcase Lagoon not "as the crow flies")

The food is delicious and nutritious, the servings are huge, and I don't know how they can stay in business with the prices they charge. They're practically giving the stuff away!

Yes, I read RideMan's post in that other thread too. ;)

Because it's so popular! And it's always on TV! And know, everyone knows about 'Sandusky'!

Hehehehe just kidding (well...). It's so amazing b/c they have a variety of mediocre to good steel coasters, run it well (haven't been since 2000). And break alotta records... ok, I can't do it w/o being sarcastic. Can't keep a straight face ;)

But it's sarcastic with a biiiiiig bear hug!

Not quite. If you remember the movie "Tommy Boy" was suposedly set in Sandusky.

"Sandusky, Sandusky! It's a heckuva town! The 'Point's to the east and Toft's in the west!"

They have a few good coasters. Beyond that, they don't have much that would make me go out of the way for. I have been to better parks as of late.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

It's a great place to work on your tan, with all that highly reflective concrete and so few of those pesky shade trees.

I regularly have people ask me if I have been to Cedar Point. They are always shocked when I tell them that I haven't. I live six hours away and still people say it is the second coolest place around. (Holiday World is right in our backyard)

There was a cool coming of age gay movie set at CP and Sendusky years ago called "Edge of seventeen"

Wait...Cedar Point is amazing? Guess it's time to return...nothing they've added since Millie makes me want to visit (and that was the last time I was there).

Magnum and Famous Dave's!! What else can I ask for?

Seriously...for me, it is the friends I have met there. I was contemplating not getting a pass this year. But hanging out with friends at the park is what makes it worth while for me.

Like mentioned above, they have rides for everyone. Hardcore rides like Magnum, Raptor and Maverick and then rides like Millennium Force and Jr Gemini for Grandma to go on! :)

I would agree with that statement. Maverick is one hell of a ride. Most definitely my favorite that CP has put in. I didn't get a pass in 2009, but I made sure on the day I paid for a ticket, that my friends and I didn't miss Maverick.

Maverick almost made me visit. Maybe 2010 is the year to return (after all, I'm supposed to hit SFMM too).
