Why don't they rebuild Crystal Beach Cyclone?

Actually, someone did die on the Cyclone. They flew out of the car when they were standing and landed on the tracks below, and got ran over by the same train they were on.
A catastrophe like that could be avoided with well placed emergency brake, and better restraints.

I saw in a book I have an incident like this that happened on the "Airplane" which was very similar to the CBC. Supposedly the guy stood up at the top of the lift to wave to his family and the "Do not stand up" sign knocked him to the track below, where he was ran over.

I agree that most of the injuries were due to the seats and restraints -- they were basically those of a modern-day mine train. And the CBC ran for 21 years, so it could not have been too much of a maintenance nightmare or they would have given up on it long before that. But I could see the whole structure aging faster than usual due to the tight corners and such on the ride.

The recreation on Badnitrus' site is great; anyone who hasn't seen it needs to.
StarCoasters, I think you got the coaster wrong with that accident, if I have the book your talking about right. If the book is Roller Coaster, then it was talking about Riverview Park's Bob's. Ironic, he got knocked out while standing from the sign that says "do not stand up."

Also, I doubt this coaster could be recreated. It would, as many people have pointed out, tear itself apart. That would lead to massive matainance, and that costs something all parks need, $$$. Another thing is, have you read stories about it? More people would watch Traver's coasters than ride them. Even with more restraints, it would still be a rough ride, even on steel. G's would be extremely high all the time, and you'd probably hit the head of the person next to you a lot. That would hurt. For it to be rebuilt, extreme modifications would need to be done, making it like a whole new coaster, so why would anyone bother rebuilding it?

Here is a pic of the Millennium Flyers:

Actually Coasting_Ohio, Millenium Flyers isn't a roller coaster. They are special trains GCI puts on their coasters. They just have bars on the front instead of a panel. They also have great padding and give a real classic feel.
Doh you're right it is the Bobs I didn't have the book with me when I typed that.

Actually, you can ride part of the CB Cyclone today. (Sort Of) Steel structural members from the Cyclone were used in the construction of the CB Comet which replaced the Cyclone. The Comet was later moved to Great Escape at Lake George where it currently operates.
