Why doesn't SFGAm repaint their rides?

Is it just me or does it seem SFGAm wont spend the money and the time to repaint their coasters. Demon has been getting real bad
over the years. I mean you can see Turn of the Century paint and the red rail Demon before they painted all black. That's in the station.

Why wont the just do it? Cedar Point takes great care of the paint on their coasters. I think SFGAm has to follow their lead.
Its pretty sad that SFGAdv is painting their B:TR before SFGAm is.

Nothing is really in desperate need of a paint job at SFGAm outside of American Eagle. And you stating that SFGAm should follow CP's lead has just turned this thread into CP is the best blah blah blah thread.

So what if there's been some wear on the rails in the Demon station, and who says that a tad bit of rust on Batman takes away from the "feel" of the ride (crime side of a city). While I think SFGAm needs a few of it's priorities straigtened out, I think that where they have paint jobs is fine where it is. The off season has been bringing in a lot of complaints.

The below statement is true.
The above statement is false.

Be happy they have rides that MIGHT need paint jobs.

FACT: I am a Great America fanboy. The park has a great collection of rides that are well run for the most part and a pretty decent staff.

FACT: Great America will never be as great as it was in it's glory days as a Marriot park when their operations rival today's CP operations by far.

FACT: Those damn coasters need a paint job. They look bad and it reflects badly on the park. When I hear non-enthusiasts complaining every time I am at the park, it is something that management should be looking into. Batman is seriously rusted and much of the paint is chipping away on most of the track. The Demon is starting to show more and more of it's red rails throughout the entire course of the ride and in other places the original Turn of the Century colors are coming through. Deja Vu is only a year old and the paint on most of the supports is already chipping away. Other coasters needing paint are American Eagle, Iron Wolf, and Raging Bull(not that bad yet but getting there)

Because they don't want to. Simple question, simple answer.

One of the things you have to keep in mind is that painting a large structure, particularly a metal structure is a regulatory nightmare these days. Gone are the days when you'd send a paint crew out with sprayers and have at it. Most states and many municipalities have laws on the books regarding the use of paints. They have to comply with a long list of requirements to be used, and open air spraying is totally out of the question. This leaves them with paints with low VOC's (volital organic compounds) that have to brushed or rolled on, a labor intensive, time consuming task. In other words it costs a bundle.
Yeah whats up with Deja Vu? It looks terrible and after only one year. American Eagle is far by the worst though. I know last year they did do a little painting in the station. I know because my hand had blue paint all over it from leaning against the wall.
Deja Vu needed a repaint from the beggining! Have you seen it?

The answer is easy, SFGAM is too cheap to paint their rides in a more timely manner!!!! They perfer too give their guests a park that isnt as visaully appealing as it could be in th hopes of saving money, realizing that a good portion of their guests dont care about how the park looks or if it is clean. They have a very large amount of downtime to spruce up the parks/rides appearance but choose not to do so and feel they wont lose any customers if the park looks shabby/unclean, but in regards to SFGAM that seems to be corporate policy from Premier parks as this is the general condition of all the SF parks ive been to.

Bob O... Wow... I won't even comment on the english. My question is this. How do you know ANYTHING about SFGAM's policies, attitudes, preferences? Your statements are more slams against a park based on your high-strung whiney enthusiast expectations than actual facts. But, unless you are Wintrode, I don't think you have any room to speak about what the park "prefers." Which would you prefer? New paint jobs all around, or a B&M flyer. I agree that the paint jobs do need re-doing. But, I wouldn't presume to know what the management at SFGAm is thinking.

-d8 who is probably opening a can of worms, but... Oh Well!

Didn't the park just repaint The American Eagle a couple of years ago? Also they are retracking some of the track this year.

Isnt that all that people do on the boards? No wonder some parks dont like "enthusiasts"...and is "enthusiasts" the right word? "complainers" is more like it....a lot of people on these boards seem more crabby than "enthusiastic"...how is this "fun" for these people?

Ugh...Cedar Point takes good care of their coasters? Where have you been? What is with Cedar Point and taking the lead in everything. Jeez, doesn't ANYBODY remember what Mantis is looking like right now and what Raptor looked like prior to its 2002 paint job? Please, don't give the park more credit than it deserves. It's a good park, but stop making it look better than it really is.

I have to agree with KRaX to a certain extent. I love CP but it's not perefect as discussed before. You don't have to be so rude about it though KRaX.

The only ride I feel really has a problem is Deja Vu, but I do not consider that a problem of SFGAm, i have been on other boomerangs by Vekoma, and they have the excat same paint problems, the patterns are identicle, to blame something that is on rides at differnt parks owned by different people, is jsut not right, the problem here is Vekoma.
And this explains why Milliennium Force has the exact same paint splotches as the Deja Vu's?

Enough paint to cover a roller coaster would be expensive. To answer your question in two words: It's cheaper.
