Why doesn't Cedar Fair Build in Wisconsin Dells

If a park goes up in WI Dells it better give me a real good reason to go 2 hours down country roads and not go to Noah's Ark. Seriously, it would need to be a full blown major park or be less then $20 to get in with a decent collection of rides because I love that park (I have more fun there then my average day at SFGAm).

I dont see it hapening, SFGAm is too close and there is too much compition from the water parks to survive in this remote location.

Finally as for the person who says the Dells only has tourist traps, you need to go back in 8 years Noah's has expanded greatly and the Kalhari and Great Wolf Lodge have been built, all high quality places.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

I lived in Milwaukee for many years, and I can say that Valleyfair and MI were not really options for a quick weekend visit (although now there is a car ferry to Muskegon from Milwaukee that runs several times a day). We typically went to SFGAm (for a better thrill park) or the Dells for waterparks and a taste of "Americana".

I agree that the Dells are just a bit too trashy for a Cedar Fair park. And I also agree that they want GL back on track and making some money. But MI is still having the issues with the city there, and have not expanded the park in sometime (the swans from CP this year do NOT count). They have the space (probably not the money though), and could do something more in that park than what they currently have. I think that with new rides, and the ferry, they could market MI more.

But back to the original topic...Cedar Fair at the Dells...NOT.

It would be cool to see a CF park there, but realistically, CF has made their impact on the midwest (at least for the time being). how about a park in another part of CA? like in NoCal (if that is a term), or in another state Texas). I don't have alot of research in terms of exact areas for their parks, but instead of building so many in one area, I would hit the Oregon Trail and move out West
Well because they are wanting* to buy Adventureland in Des Moines. Why would they want to build a park when they can get this one?

*Not officially happening, but would be a good move for the chain.

Adventureland could truely be ruined by CF if they bought it. Don't get me wrong, I love CF as a chain, but that park is so well run, and has such a great down home feel, I don't think they could improve on it.

BTW, TeknoScorpion, I judged, based on the context, that rollergater wasn't saying it was "a steal" when he called it thieft. I guess the one one who could answer that is him.... heh

IMHO, IF Adventureland was to ever be "bought" out, I would want KennyCo or HFEC (SDC) to buy the park -- shoot if Holiday World ever wanted to become a "chain" this would be a good park to partner with. ;)

CC....what I was *trying* to say (apparently unsuccessfully) is that CF paid roughly 2/3 of what the park was realistically "worth"...

As a (VERY minor) stockholder in SFI, I would have preferred that they held onto the park until they could get "fair market value"...even the term BARGAIN sorta soft-sells the notion that CF got away with a MAJOR firesale item, much like the woman who bought a $10 painting at a garage sale only to wind up with a Van Gogh or Rembrandt...

bill, reminded that something's only WORTH what someone will pay you for it...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Ah gator, gotcha. Sorry about the confusion. I thought that seemed a bit wierd to be so resentfull of CF ownership. :)
CF building or buying out any parks in the Dells is even more unlikely then Adventureland being sold to CF, and even that rumor has a bat's chance in hell of happening. Last I checked, that park was doing incredible business, and in great shape!
There is NO possible way I would want CF to get a hold of Mt. Olympus!! Hades is likely to be a HUGE woodie that would makes that so-called "Mean" Streak a kiddie ride. We don't need Hades to turn into a forceless overbraked family woodie like High Roller (@ VF) and "Mean" Streak. CF in most of their parks LOVES EXCESSIVE AIRTIME KILLING trim brakes!! And the current owners are not scared to run their rides right as you can tell after riding Cyclops!!
I would love to CF buy out Mt Olympus and actually turn it into as theme park. The thought that it is a theme park now is a big joke!!! It has a few coasters and go-karts and nothing that would make it a theme park, just because they call themsleves a theme park doesnt make them one!!!
Considering they just gated the place two months ago, maybe you should consider giving them awhile to actually turn it into a "theme park."

Does Mt. Olympus have alot of shops and food or is it just the go-karts and coasters.

Hades sounds great! Maybe even a top 10 woodie.
