Another problem I think is that many people mistake intensity as roughness. Mantis isn't rough, it's just really intense, especially compare to the other rides at Cedar Point.

Stand-ups get bashed because most of the riders get bashed when they're on it!

Yeah CPgenius, I hate peoiple like that. I have a friend that always blacks out on Two Face: The Flip Side, and it's annoying becuase she thinks it's a bad thing.

What is life with out coasters, geniuses, and/or SFA
Stand ups are fun but personally, I want to have children. Just Kidding. I mean look at any stand up, you stand in line just to stand some more on the coaster. I would have no problem with them if they just got softer bicycle seats.

I love stand-ups. I've only ridden one TOGO (KK) and one B&M (Mantis), but Mantis is one of my favorite rides. I love the intensity. I've never had any problems with comfort, and I don't even notice the seat (I don't sit on it). I love the way my legs are all jiggly when I get off too. It's a great feeling!

I love the Georgia Scorcher. I have ridden Chang and although I like it, it's not a ride that I would want to ride over and over. The Georgia Scorcher on the other hand, I could ride it all day and never get tired of it. It is just awesome. Lots of people say it sucks because it's not 150 ft tall or because it don't have five inversions. I think it is one of the best roller coasters I have ridden. I can't think of many that I like better than the Scorcher. Maybe the reason I like it so much is because of it's size. Chang was almost TOO big. It was too intense to be standing up. It was uncomfortable. It would be GREAT if you were sitting down. The Scorcher is just the right size for a stand up, the ride is very comfortable and extremely thrilling. Ride it in the back seat. It has airtime. Are there any other stand ups that have airtime?
Good reason...

Yeah, you put a lot of thought into that post didn't you, Scott.
This is the 2nd post that someone has said that. Please don't post anything that will upset other people and start a flame war.
I won't be surprised if it gets deleted either...
Ok, I am confused. My friend posted this because when that rumor about SFNE getting a stand-up was floating around, everyone was saying how they didn't really care because it was JUST a stand up. Yet, now you guys are all saying you them them. Explain please
"Just a stand-up?" Wow. I guess you just can't please everybody. I personally would love nothing more than to see a stand-up return to Missouri. Unfortunately, I was too small when we had both of ours, but I loved Mantis and Riddler's Revenge. Stand-ups are very unique, and I had no problems on either of them that I rode. I notice that some are complaining about the banana seat, but if you flex your knees slightly before the seats lock, and then actually stand during the ride, I think you'll have much less trouble.
I don't know whether the SFNE stand-up rumor was true or not, but if SFNE was my home park, I'd be devastated at the thought of what could've been.

IMO, I liked King Cobra at PKi better than Mantis at Cedar Point because, Mantis just hurt my legs. king Cobra provides a lot of air time, and the helix is one awesome element of the ride. Where else can you be standing up nearly horizontal!?
