Why do "BRAVE" Riders Scream?

I hear many girl and some boys say they aren't afraid of any roller coaster, but once on the ride, they scream their heads off!  Why?  Why do they do this?!
That is a good question, the other day, I heard a guy tell his g/f dont worry it isnt bad, but once Deja Vui started moving, he was screaming his head off.

It's simple... it's basically the adrenoline rush that you get when you are on the coaster and dropping down the steep hills, looping upside down through the various elements, and just speeding along. It's not necessarily a scream of fear (as much as it may sound like it), as just much as a way of releasing the energy from the adrenoline that you get from riding the coaster.

Proud to be an American!!

On one of the coaster videos they talked about the science of it.  There were different types, such as going over the crest of the hill, down the drop, and up the second hill.  At first it's more of a fearsone scream, then it's more like a relief and happy scream.
It's fun! So is swearing... [as long as the little kiddy's arn't around {ok.. don't bash me for that one}] it just adds to the fun of the ride! When X-flight first turned you over into flying position, the rush, it just made it all the better to scream like a little wussy and really does add to the effect of the ride.

Try it some time!

I'm brave and I scream. It's just fun.
Yup, it is a great catharsis...where else in public can you scream and have extreme fun at the same time?

Millennium Force: The 8th Wonder of the World!
We down in the South call that hollering. lol. The way I see it is "scared" people scream and people who are enjoying themselves (enthusiasts, etc.) holler. I myself scream the first time I ride a ride and after a while the screaming usually turns into hollering! I screamed like a little school girl my first trip down Titan's first drop, but the second time around, I hollered till I was hoarse!

What is life without ups and downs!?!?
I scream more of a fun scream than a high pitched scared one.  Its fun to scream or at least i think so.

Scream your coaster opinions and ideas! Its the ThemeParkBigShot!!!
I scream all the time, it really gets you to let loose.  I find that for three weeks after visiting a theme park, I'm completely relieved and unstressed the only downside is that for the couple days afterward, you can't talk much!
I find it boring sometimes because you are just sitting and looking at the view.
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Now see, if I were in a public place, this would be wrong. On a coaster, you can scream to your hearts content and no one would look. Also, I find that if I don't scream, I feel a discomfort at the pit of my stomach for some reason. Screaming loud and strong is always fun and a great way to release a large amount of energy.

Drive to theme parks for the food, stay for the coasters!! Knott's Fried Chicken
I don't scream, but I yell. It's a release, and it's fun. As said on one of the Discovery Channel shows, rides usually trigger the "fight or flight" reaction. Since you can't run away from the extreme experience, your body needs to release some kind of "fight" in the form of a yell or scream.

And quoting one of the people interviewed for the show, "It's one of the only ways you can scream in public without being carted away" :)

Mayday - Memorial Day Weekend - Nonpoint, Nickelback, Oleander, Staind
Ozzfest - June 8 - Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Black Sabbath
Awake Tour- June 15 - Darwin's Waiting Room, Puddle of Mudd, Deftones, Godsmack

I often scream on rides, especially if I`m riding The Beast at night!  I`ll also scream if I`m riding on the Viking Fury at Paramount`s Kings Island!  I just thing it adds more fun to the general ride experience.

I have never and will never scream.  I usually laugh or yell something like "Hell Yeah!"  But no screaming.
Well, on another topic, who here can scream at the bottom of the Millennium Force drop? :) It's harder than you think...

Well my mommie told me if you dont scream on coasters, the "Tingler" will gets you (it's from a bad 'B' horror flick from the 60's)

I just scream to be screaming. I just dont enjoy the ride as much if I'm quiet.

Also, I could scream on Millie. The only coaster to ever stop me mid scream was the American Eagle (and any drop ride as they really *do* scare me).

I've yelled all the way down the hill before. But this past weekend, I was only able to yell about 3/4 the way down, and when I tried breathe, I couldn't for a second or two. I guess you can say MF took my breath away. :)

I just sit and enjoy the coaster...maybe its cuz I"ve rode all of SFGAM's coasters too many times, they don't give me that much of a rush
I think brave riders scream becuase its just at the point where your adrenaline is going full force and that final moment is there and when it happens all that tenchen is just released and it comes out in the form of a scream.I personaly love screaming and luaghing on Amusment rides becuase it releaifs all the tension off of me.i gusse for some its like having an orgasuim. lol
