Who said that CP & MM are not competing

Hmmmm... MM and CP both get this Sling Shot ride in the same year so they must be in competition. Wow! In 1992 little Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster PA and Six Flags Fiesta Texas both got wooden coasters so they MUST be in competition too!
end if sarcasm

It doesn't even have to be cross crountry for the GP not to hear of a park. Until I started searching the web specifically for coasters and parks, I never had even heard of Kennywood in my own home state (that was a few years ago).

I like what Jeff said best...
"You need to keep in mind that only idiots like us travel cross-country to ride roller coasters."
That about sums it up.

Sorry to offend anyone outside of the USA.I am referring to AMERICAN parks.

I do.

I don't see how that change would make your discussion point any more different. It's still the same childish "They're battling" proclamation.
If CP/MM were not competing. Why would CP even challenge MM about Superman The Escape not being a rollercoaster? *** This post was edited by Coaster Bob on 7/11/2001. ***

"Yes they do care if Cp gets one. Sf just blocked CF's KBF from getting a sky coaster.SFMM had a clause that another sky coaster could not be built within a certain mile radius from MM. So if Cp gets one(SLing Shot) they to may have that power.Especially, when Worlds of Adventure is just two hours away fron CP."

I love to step on your points because they are not thought out very well. Six Flags Magic Mountain always had the zoning restriction for their Dive Devil skycoaster since it opened in 1996. They didn't happen to block it just because Knott's decided to build one. In fact, the Orange County Register wrote that the two parks actually came to an agreement for allowing Knott's to build one. But because of a certain quote placed in the article, Six Flags pulled out of the settlement.

Would you prefer if I changed my thread to "Sorry for having an unpopular opinion" or better yet "Let's Bash Coaster Bob"

It was never a challenge. It was an opinion given to the media because they asked. It was then twisted to look like CP was challenging SFMM, when in fact CP could care less.

I don't think that it's childish to point out that two parks, although very far away from each other, are both vying for very valuable exposure on the Travel Channel, etc.

I'm sure they do both compete for tourist $$s from the midwest. Hmm...do we take the not-quite-as-expensive trip down to Sandusky? Or head out to California?

Yeeee Haaawwww!
