Who eats theme park food?

Personally, I would love to, but most of it is junk food, and grossly over priced.

I usually leave the park at lunchtime, and go somewhere else nearby. Either that, or take my own food.

I usually bring my own breakfast to have right in the hotel (saves time) and save dinner for afterwards, but lunch is usually something from a stand. I don't like going to the restaurants in a park, because I find their prices to be the worst of all. But there are some things you have to have or else is just isn't a visit to an amusement park! Granted, it's all junk food, :) but that's part of the fun.

I am very picky about what i eat at parks. I usually pick the best food and best price combination of any given park. The spaghetti buffet by Batman at SFGAm is ok...not best but good for the buck. And the buffet by Viper/Raging Bull is definitely the best food I have had in SFGAm. But there are definitely places within walking distance of the main gates that one could go to when at SFGAm. Like Burger King, McDonalds, and even Outback Steakhouse...among others.

I try to never eat in parks. I can't afford that kind of expense. Usually, when I go on a trip, I pack a lot of food and then bring something into the park. For drinks, it's water fountains for us. Sure, we don't eat as well as we might otherwise, but the more money we save, the more trips we can take.

Hot Dogs! It's all about Hot Dogs! Especially Corndogs! I don't care how much I spend...it's all a part of the experience!

But, sometimes I'll hit up a nearby establishment. It's kinda fun to eat in a park though.

I must say that I had the best meal in a Park at Avalon Cove at DCA. It was wonderful. The waieters were nice...food great...cocktails (yes cocktails!) were nice and stiff...and the night view of the Sunwheel, CA Screaming, Zephyr, and bay (complete with waves!) was unbeatable. All the pretty lights! (: If you have a bit of $$ to spend, I would recommend it....Man! I wanna go back now!

Some of it is nasty, but for the most part, I eat a lot of it. I usually have to sell my house to afford it, but those Dippin' Dots are well worth it.

Mmmmmm......Dippin' Dots. (Drool runs down face)

Some park food is great like Cedar Points milk shakes and elephant years but its incredibly over priced. Its always fun to take picnics, great way to meet people.

I eat park food. It's convenient, anyway. And at some places it's part of the experience (especially at Kennywood, Knoebel's, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg -- going to one of those places and NOT eating something is a crime ;) )

In general, I do breakfast on the way to the park, lunch at the park, then dinner after the park closes on the way home.

It should also be noted that I don't go for much of the park 'junk food'.

Of course all generalities, including this one, is false.

But that's typically what I do. I've also been known to escape parks for lunch. What do I eat? If the park has a full service sestaurant, that's usally where you'll find me. In general, burgers and pizza don't cut it. While at DCA, I like an earlier poster went for Avalon Cove and had a magnificant lunch that cost more than the park admission ticket. (We sacrificed dinner that night, though, just had a snack in the park)

It really depends on a few things:
1. What park is it?
2. Am I alone of with friends/family?
3. How long are we staying?

If it's my local parks (PKD,SFA) I'm by myself and I'm only staying a few hours, then NO I wont eat there.

If it's my local parks and I'm with friends/family, it really depends on if they are hungry or not.

If I'm away on a trip and I'm spending a full day, then of course I eat in park. If they have a table service restaurant, I prefer to eat there, especially at the Disney/Universal/Busch parks as they can throw down a little bit.

I will eat park food once in a while, usually as a snack here and there but generally I avoid it. Most amusement parks haven't made much progress in catering to the vegetarian element. I tend to go the cooler-in-the-car route. Why should I pay a premium for something I'm better off not putting into my body?

Don't get me wrong, I try my best to put what is "right" into my body. But as a baseball game isn't quite the same without grubbing down a nasty hotdog, what's a park trip without the nasty, greasy park victuals?

Then again, I like going to parks a lot so perhaps someday I won't be allowed on my favorite rides due to my "heat condition". (:

BTW...I "think" funnel cakes are vegetarian...couldn't tell you for sure though.

I just eat the Cheese Fries,, (sfga) and for lunch go across the street to Burger King.. or a restaurant.

AMERICAN EAGLE!! (RED TRAIN)BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I eat breakfast at the hotel. Then eat around 1pm at the park and leave at about 5-7pm to eat someone other than the park (and of course come back to the park!). For drinks, I buy a Spirit or bottled water.

I never have much money so I walk to Burger King which is right across from SFGAm. Then I hit TCBY and get some frozen yogurt.

It sucked when they were remodeling BK last year, I had to buy food from Piggly Wiggly. I love lunchables ;)

I always eat breakfast on the way to the park, and I have lunch in the park. I always eat at the same place when I'm at my home parks...SFStL has a great mini-pizza place near the Screamin' Eagle, and Holiday World also has a great pizza place, which is located in Splashin' Safari.

Having the luxury of a motor home we very seldom eat the park food we bring our own.

1) When I go on a park trip, I go to ride. That's all I want to do. Even if BK or Pizza Hut or whatever is right across the street, it's still 10-15m walk there, then the walk back. I'd rather save the hike time and be on another ride.

2) Not all park food is vastly overpriced. Take Kennywood for example: Large Pepsi-$1.25, Quarter Pound Burger & Fries - $3.50... that's not that much more than fast food, and it's different food, not the same bland McCrap you can get any other day.

3) Remember, admission at many parks pays for operations... employee pay, electricity, etc. Merchandizing and Foods are where the profits come from and profits are where new rides come from. Think of that corn dog as a down payment on a coaster!!

(That being said, Universal's $3.50 for a Pepsi is quite absurd.)

I refuse to add a signature. Damn, too late.
Life without funnel cakes, and zebra cones dipped in sprinkles, and soft pretzels and the pizza at PKI????

NEVER!!!!

Yeah, it costs a lot, but hey - it is a lot easier to just carry the cash and eat as you go, rather than stop to chow down at a picnic grove, or leave the park.

MHO.
The last time I ate in a park was Mythos at IOA and found the experience most satisfactory. Only a 1.50 for all the coke you can drink and some fairly priced pizza that was really good plus you get to sit in a quite air conditioned building and just take your time and enjoy yourself. But other than that I usually eat something on the way out.
