Who are you???

I am Mike, originally from Detroit thus the screen-name.  After a single term in the Air Force I ended up in Southern California and have no desire to return to the weather except to visit.  I'm not certain if I'm a bigger motorcycle addict than a coaster junkie, I ride to work every day and ride to play most weekends if the mountain roads are clear.  I plan on heading to SFMM 12/24/2001 for X.  Knott's is 15 minutes from home, SFMM is a bit over a hour.  Favorite steel is S:RoS SFNE, as for a favorite woodie I don't really have one since there are so many good ones and none standout the way S:RoS does among steel.  I'd rather ride an average wooden coaster than an average steel coaster when given the choice.

22 parks so far in 2001.
Tremors, my 100th coaster.
Ghostrider, stopped counting laps at 100.

Wow, glad to see someone who enjoyed Boblo as much as I did as a kid.

And let's not forget Edgewater park while we're at it, CPLady.

Among my deepest regrets in life was being too afraid to ride Bob-lo's Flight  to Mars (the portable dark ride/coaster) and screaming/crying 'till I got kicked off the Chance Skydiver when I was 8.

Anybody remember those?

(PS - Thanks Coasterr for jogging my memory)

Yes, Yes...I remember that CoastaPlaya. But I think it was called *Flight to Mars*, cause I too was afraid of that ride when I was a kid, too. I rode it a couple of times, but my eyes were closed most of the time
Edgewater brings back memories, too. Although, I only went once.

Hmmm... Flight to Mars at Boblo.  I don't remember that one.  I do remember Nightmare.  Is that what your talking about.

Nope...Flight to Mars and Nightmare were two completely different coasters.
Flight to Mars was a portable deal with an elaborately airbrushed 2-story facade.  I distinctly remember the hairpin turns (2 of them?) that ran outside and back into the darkened structure as well as the 'big' drop behind the station.  It's possible that it operated at least one season without the enclosure.  By any means, it was long gone by the time Nightmare was built.
Nightmare was Bob-lo's last coaster and occupied what was once the ballroom.  It was still in operation until the park's closure.  I took my fiancee (now wife) for a few spins on Nightmare in '88 during what would be my last visit to the park.

Hey everyone, my name is Ken and I am 16 years of age.  Born in Texas in 1985 (near SFOT) I moved directly to Gurnee, Illinois at the age of 3.  SFGAm was within walking distance, and I used to take full advantage of it.  I moved right here to New Berlin, WI in 1996, which is not fun compared to my former residence. I am currently a sophomore going to New Berlin West High, where I get a 3.7 GPA.  I've become so obsessed with SFGAm within the past year, that I got a job there, despite living almost an hour away.  Video games, movies, musics, girls, cars are all my hobbies but for some reason SFGAm fascinates me the most.  I hope to add a lot more coasters to my track record once I get my liscense.  I play football, run track, and get in the weight room when I have spare time.  I started last year at half back, and will try to get a starting place on the Varsity team next year. Great to see a nice variety of people here!

My name's Bill and I'm ONLY 28, and was a very poor student with a GPA of about 1.3.  I can't stand the Dave Matthew's band (or stained or linkin park or brittney or cher).  I love the MISFITS, Iggy, Blondie, Ramones, Stones, Ozzy, Devo, AC/DC, go-go's...  and ROLLERCOASTERS.  My favorite woodie is the Legend and my favorite steelie is the Mindbender at SFOG.  Can't wait for Knott's and Holiday World (and Indiana Beach, Dave) next year.  Can't wait for my next ADULT BEVERAGE also :)

I'm afraid I never rode Nightmare. Most of my trips to Boblo were between 1962 and 1969. I had one trip after that and rode Silver Streak, but somehow Nightmare doesn't ring a bell with me.

And Edgewater! I miss that place as well. I went several times. Saw Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy at the Bandstand.

You are probably just a tad too young to remember Walled Lake, CPlaya

Well, I'm back. Five months ago, I responded vaguely, and I'll give you guys a little update.

I'm 17 years old. I live just a few miles north of Fort Wayne, Indiana. I joined GTTP over 2 years ago, and Coasterbuzz followed. My name is Gannon **gasp** No, not like Ganon off of Zelda, although that's what I have to tell people over the phone so they don't pronounce my name wrong. I still have a 4.0 GPA, and I'm still at the top of my class.

Dan is correct in his comments on Nintendo. During the first few days of the break, my brother and I beat The Adventure of Link (Zelda 2). The NES can't be topped! :) Those of you that like the Nintendo, give me a "Hell Yeah!"

I like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Incubus, Drowning Pool, Tantric, Papa Roach, Godsmack, Blink, Sum 41, Adema, Korn, Bizkit, Spine Shank, Woobastank, Ill Nino, 311, Orgy, Nickelback, Nonpoint, and Staind.

I'm probably going to go to Purdue University for Mechanical Engineering. I bought my first season pass for Cedar Point this year.

My plans to build that model kind of fell through due to a lack of ambition and too little time.

I want to put up my pic some time, but I don't have access to a scanner, so that might be a while. :) It's my on-ride photo of me on The Legend.

-------------
Mayday - Memorial Day Weekend - Nonpoint, Nickelback, Oleander, Staind
Ozzfest - June 8 - Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Black Sabbath
Awake Tour- June 15 - Darwin's Waiting Room, Puddle of Mudd, Deftones, Godsmack

I have 2 great daughters, and a great and understanding boyfriend who is more into horses than coasters but he tries! My real job is with a major credit card company as a fraud investigator. I own a couple horses (one hunter/jumper and a barrel racing QH)and I train/show other people's horses for them.
This past summer I did quite well in several shows, my highlight was showing at the Quarter Horse Congress-I did TONS of cowboy watching there! Oops-did I say cowboy? I of course meant horse watching ;)
My summer time passion is for Cedar Po!nt. I do not consider myself an enthusiast even though we did go to a few east coast parks this summer and plan on heading to California next summer, my heaven on earth is still CP and my baby Raptor.
At CP (and even at work) I am known as "Raptor Jo"
I worked as a Raptor ride op in 2000 during Halloweekends and planned on doing it again this season til I got caught up with the horses and just didnt have the time. 2001 was my most awesome CP season ever, meeting many new people and having a BLAST on EVERY visit! :)
I proudly display 4 different CP tattoos, one of Snoopy and the CP logo, one other CP logo, the MF logo and then my fav is my Raptor logo on my left shoulder. I was the front page feature story in the Sandusky Register this past May (brag brag!!)
and will be in the Discovery Channel's upcoming Top 10 Coaster show in May, I narrated Magnum.
(Yes Magnum) My license plates on my truck?

Whoa!  I might have still been working my way out of diapers in '69.  So I wonder if you missed Bob-lo's Vekoma Corkscrew too.

I had no idea Nightmare was there myself.  My last Boblo visit was on a whim (wanted to hit a park, but didn't want to drag my fiancee's family 2 hours each way to CP) and I just happened upon the little mine train in near-total darkness.  One of the TX Six Flags parks has the ride now--can't remember which one offhand.

On the other topic--Walled what?!?!?  Look at my pic...I'm way, way, way too young to remember that one.  :P
