Hey, I had heard so many rumours that the Whizzer at sfgam is going to be taken out at the end of 2001. Is this true?
Not to my knowledge - The only reason that this coaster would be removed would be due to maintenance issues.

If they take it out, they'll probably replace it with a floorless. But I don't see them taking it out anytime soon.

Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.
I hope not. It was my favorite coaster when I went to SFGAm last saturday for the first time. It was up their with RB. I'll give them three choices:
A) Keep It
B) Move it to a park closer to my house
C) Move it to my backyard

There isn't too much room there if they do take it out anyways. :(

Doesn't this rumor go around every season? I hear this every month for the past...
calculating... calculating... 48 months? Maybe more.

Why can that never happen?
I hope they don't take out Whizzer because it's a classic. It's one of the last of it's kind. Even though I'd like a floorless, I hope they keep Whizzer and put the floorless(if they get one) some where else.
i heard rumors from THRILLRIDE.com that they might take out whizzer of SFGAm and move it to PGA.. thats a bad idea to me though
Well, it'd take one hell of a shoehorn to get a floorless in Whizzer's area.
It is still very popular, but also down TREMENDOUS amounts of time (compared to other rides there.) As for sentimental value, I think they should do what Disney's doing to the Matterhorn. Give it time off and restore it completely.

It's coming...
Keep it. Restore it. That was my first steel coaster. Keep it.

SFGAm: SCREAM. THRILL. REPEAT. Two New Coasters in 2001!
If they actually do take it out, I will start a petition to keep it.
This ride is ussually down when ever it rains because its breaks are on the side of the cars and exposed to the elements unlike other rides like Raging Bull where the metal rods are under the trains and not exposed as much.
sfgamfreak, just to let you know, petitions won't keep it there. If it is going to go because management said it is going to go, it is going to go! Unfortunatly, this is also true with the one and only Drachen Fire... I hope that stays where it is, too, and opens! I plan on going to BGW in a few years.
Also, I still want Whizzer to stay where it is. Otherwise you can install it in my back yard. I'm sure neighbors won't mind thier houses being demolished, and I doubt there is no city ordinance about no coaster-construction in your back yard!

Why are people so sure that a floorless is going to appear at every park in the country?
If Whizzer goes away, and I hope it doesn't because I haven't been on it yet, it'll go away because it's expensive to maintain. That's it. There's not even a guarantee that something will replace it.

Amen Jeff Everytime a park takes a ride out a park is automaticly assumed they are getting Floorless or a Hyper. Now 4D and Flying coasters have been thrown into this mix Have you seen how big Floorlesses are! The only somewhat compact one is, BKF and it really doesn't have a ton of Inversions.

Get with the program, it's not a floorless that's appearing in every park next year(thats so 2000), it's a giga!! Seriously, I can't count the number of times I've heard rumors of parks getting a giga. What is even more ridiculous are rumors of places like Knoebels getting a giga.
I can see it now.....

Why would SFGAM even contemplate getting rid of their highest capacity rollercoaster? Well at least that was how Jim Wintrode put it about both the Whizzer and Shockwave at No Coaster Con.

What is life without it's ups and downs
I love the whizzer ,especially with your love. But I honestly think they are going to take it out.
As the tree's grow in the area the ride will only continue to get better. The feeling of racing through the tree's can't be matched by any coaster at the park. It truly is a gem of a ride.

I would be glad to see that ride taken down.
1. It's always down for maintenance
2. No offense but it's a wuss ride.
3. They could easily fit another coaster in its place.
