Which Six Flags Parks will do best as family parks?

Actually, I dont think "fixing" SFA would take much money at all. A little more in staffing/salary, a little more in landscaping (trees or awnings), and open the freaking train to regular visitors.

As for the dead ends, yes, they are an inconvience, but I dont think that they have that much affect on the average guest. Things are still rather simple to find (though long walks to get to), but I dont think this would have much of a negative impact to a guest who is otherwise having a good day. That being said, I think it is vital that they take I-Fans suggestion and put a restaurant/restroom, back by Batwing (I've been saying that for year). Call it the Justice League Cafe and do character lunches there.

Additionally, if you just *wanted* to spend money, this is what I'd do (RCT style :)):

Use the access road between BW and S:ROS as a basis for a path heading toward Wild One but cut the path under the 1st & 4th hills of S:ROS and connect with the exit ramp from Jokers Jinx (making a mini-loop). Pepper this new path with family rides: Spinning coaster (Poison Ivy's twisted Train), a Kite flyer (Nightwing) an old school whip (Catwoman's Whip) a kids play area with climbing nets, ball pit, etc. (Gotham Central Park). A Vekoma Madhouse (Snowy's Ice Cream Factory...i.e. a Mister Freeze kidnapping) and a Rockin Tug (Krypton Coaster).

That's about all I would spend money on with this park. They have enough thrills for now to be well rounded. If they want another "thrill" ride, let em get one of those Huss Delerium water rides :)

For someone to believe that PG county is somehow "not an affluent enough area" is ridiculous.

And that's where I will get on board with you. There is nothing about SFA's surrounding areas that couldn't spell success for the park.

I think we're totally on the same page as eachother, I just thought your thought process was a little bit hinky. Overall I agree with you, and I think you're on the money with the PKD thing, too. The park has been around longer, and the product is more easily indentifiable. Its iconic. And that's not an easy thing to compete with, especially with a park that is, at the moment, exceptionall NOT iconic, lol.

Was it *always* owned by CP? I was under the impression that at least at one time (circa 1989) that the Radisson was independent of CP.

Yes, the Radisson was built and owned by another company when it was first opened, and was not affiliated with CP in any way. CP bought the hotel and adjoining restaurant during the 1990's.

The restaurant was not always a TGIF. When it first opened it was Shooter's, then it became J.J. Muskie's. I'm not sure if CP turned it into TGIFridays, or if it was already converted into a TGIF when CP bought the property.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I'm not exactly sure what this proves. The area in general is experiencing a lot of growth, I don't really see what this illustrates. I understand you're trying to somehow point out the general affluence of the surrounding areas or something, but I really don't think 2 mega churches right down the street prove much. Are such establishments really such a good indicator of...anything besides lots of people wanting to go to church?

Well, yes. Megachurches, like McDonald's, go where their customers are. If megachurch A is in an affluent neighborhood, and megachurch B is 15 miles away in a less-affluent neighborhood, megachurch A is going to get the lion's share of the business. They don't build those huge buildings and all that supporting social infrastructure from a few dollars tossed in a collection plate.

In order to put a B:TR on ME's footprint you'd first need a wider station to handle the 4 abreast trains.

Anyway I'd simply take ME out, widen the path & extend it out past RR then have it go north toward GC.Once that is complete I'd put ME<or a B:TR clone> back up but have it moved to the souguh just a bit for obvious clearance issues with the path & that should solve the problem with the loop.

Not only is GC a no kiddie zone as I-Fan mentioned above but it's also a no tree zone as well. Some new, mature trees, along with a nice sitdown restaurant & bathroom would do wonders for this section of the park.
