Which Japanese park should i visit??

To each his own, I'm glad you liked Expoland so much. If they had a wood coaster it would be great. Expoland has a lot missing from their coaster collection compared to NS. (Of course, NS doesn't have an inverted) My dream park would be Nagashima with Orochi, Dodonpa, plus Fujikyu's walk though attraction.

I also agree about the Tokyo Disney parks. They are breathtaking. They totally outshine the American ones.

Vertigo and Nasai: Did either of you do the amazing hospital attraction at Fujikyu, or the walk-through (with the James Bond vibe) where you run around a missle silo? I thought they were amazing.

Nagashima SpaLand was very clean, but so too was Cedar Point when I went in June.   They were very comparable in this regard.  I was more impressed with the cleanliness of CP, since it's not normal in the states.

Vertigo, I like Expoland too, as it's kind of my homepark when I am in Japan, but what are you talking about with the coasters?  I LOVE Orochi, and I like it better than Raptor, but you like Diadarasaurus?  You like Fujin Raijin II?  Are you serious?  Diadarasaurus is so long and slow, and LOUD....ugh.  Not my thing, man!  Glad you like it though!  I loved FRII when I went in 98, and loathed it last summer.  TOO violent, and the headbanging champion of the world IMHO.  I do like the feel of the park, though.  Nice and open with the famous "37 degrees below zero" room.  Weirdest thing I ever saw, and such a shock to the system on a hot summer day.  I wanted out so bad.  Just too damn cold.  What did you think, Chris?

Peabody, I didn't go to the hospital.  Wish I would've.  man..................:)

As u guys know i love to research japanese rides and coasters. Did anyone visit Mitsui Greenland? It looks like such a cool park with a unique collection of Coasters. Like the only racing/dueling stand-up and one of only 3 Vekoma Suspenededs. + Gao's themeing is incredible... anyone?

Some of u may be intrested to know that there are rumours of an Inverted for nagashima soon anyway. so then it will have the complete package.

Well, i never thought this post would create so much discussion, good to see there are lots of us non-american 'coasterbuzzers'. I will definately have to get to Japan sometime to ride these coasters you have all been talking about, and to experience a clean park coupled with polite staff. Next year perhaps.

Yes Taipan i am a pommie but one who lives in Aus now.  I just could not leave Sydney, what a great city. Only lacks a Theme park with unlimited funds. Sydney six flags, has a nice ring to it, does'nt it.

I wish.

What I like about Japan as well is their creativity.  Even the cloned/compact coasters(which are only in Japan) are unique and much better than our regular Galaxis, Corkscrews, Jet Stars, family hypers :), Looping Stars, and Boomerangs.  Even those double loop + double corkscrew coasters have personality.  What's that Hello Kitty themed coaster I saw in Japn?  I think it was Angel Coaster, it had a Hello Kitty figure standing on the front of the train.  Japn also had the first stand up/sit down coaster.  First hyper and first shuttle over 200 feet.
I hear you about creativity, Vertigo.  There is creativity in all aspects of the parks there.  Specifically, some of the most creativity I saw was in the "haunted" or "dark" attractions.
Vertigo, did you go in the Hospital or Missle Silo attractions at Fujikyu-Highland?  (Or the "Death Chair" at Korakuen park?)

No, and I missed Korakuen Park too.  What was that B&M inverted I went on that was like in a rice field?  Think is was black, can't remember the name?  Wasn't Pyreenes, Orochi, or Gambit.  What was it?
Vertigo, it might be Diavlo, I think thats the only other inverted in Japan. It's one of the 2 B:TR clones. What is the other clone there? Gambit?

I have no signature.

P>ONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d8d0c8">Are you thinking of Central Park?  (It's more like a zoo than an amusement park).  They have a B&M Batman clone called Diavolo.  DId you get to that one too?/P>
P>ONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d8d0c8">Korakuen was loads of fun.  They have one of the most fun indoor coasters, Geopanic, and probably the freakest Intamin Giant Drop.  (Along with other coasters and such...)/P>
P>ONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d8d0c8">With the huge number of coasters in Japan, it would be hard to hit them all.  I know of one person who did, but she was over there just sight seeing and riding coasters for several months!/P>
Japan has NO boomerangs lol. thats what amazes me. they have the highest concentration of coasters anywhere in the world (yup more than the USA) yet they have no boomerangs. and the one that did come closest (moonsault) was pretty special i think lol.

The inverted u r talking about is indeed Diavlo as its the only other B&M invert there, But there are various SLC but none are in rice feilds. I have a off ride video of Diavlo if you want it.

Anyway im off to China 2morrow morning. Unfortunatly not a coasting trip but if i find any info or pics i will be sure to bring em back and scan them in :) Cya soon

Um, there's Gamit, Diavlo, Orochi, and Pyreenes.  Japan, I would say highest concentration(that's an overstatement.), but to say they have the most extreme coasters on the planet(that's an understatement.)  I'm still getting over that huge turnaround of Titan!  I'd have to say it was more thrilling than any other Arrow/Morgan hyper I've seen or ridden(not saying there is much competition.) Diadarasuarus was very fun when racing, especially since it was my sister's first non-kiddie coaster as well, if you wan't a nice slow long secnic rid try the Beast (hehe :) Just kidding).  Fujin Raijin II was pretty wild, a kind of coaster I like and it's golden compared to are usual stand up trio (Shockwave/King Cobra/Sky Rider), come try one, I think you will be praising Fujin Raijin II after a ride thru Shockwave and its helix.
Vertigo, where do you live, Japan?  Unfortunately I live in the east coast USA so I'm not in Japan much, but I'm dying to go back.
Actually I live in Boston, you'd never think I was such a maniac about Japan, but it was a "World's Greatest" experience.

Diavlo

Yeah Vertigo....I live in Seattle, but Japan is IT!  The greatest place on the planet IMHO.  I would give up my citizenship I like it so much.  Have you had the chance to ride Delphis at Festivalgate in the namba district of Osaka?  Short ride, but smooth and fun.

No seriously Japan has the highest concentration of coasters anywhere in the world. There are over 200 coasters in Japan. the USA has just over 600 and i think its more than 3 times larger.
Its just an estimate but id say that japan easily has the highest concentration of coasters anywhere in the world. Unless theres a tiny country with several parks lol.
hey vertigo i know its slightly of topic but would i be allowed to use your diavlo pics? Im always looking for Forgin coaster pics since its a big hobby of mine and im trying to get a good database going. http://www.fright-time.tk although popular in its orgional form i had huge downtime and need something to draw visitors back. i have plenty of new orochi and pyrenees pics but nothing for diavlo. It would be a great help (full credit and link under every pic :p ) sorry for that everyone else lol just tryna get a good re-opening.

This place has it all, and though not as big as RCDB, it is definentaly a step above interms of quality.  Ride logos, layouts, and pictures of every ride featured from Argentina to England to France, Japan, and the USA.  You would have to ask the webmaster to borrow the pictures though(Whom I know nothing about), but he keeps the page up but never seems to update anymore.  Still his Thrill of the week does feature full scoops on rides like Le Monstre, Oblivion, London Eye, and STEEL DRAGON 2000(though that doesn't keep you entertained for a year waiting to update it). /P

Japan has a little under 150 coasters, and ranks about the same level as the UK interm of coasters and size.  Japan should be called the extreme coaster capital of the world.
Sorry for posting again, but don't you just love talking about coasters internationally, today's enthusiasts are sure well rounded and multicultural in coaster :)
I thank my job for that!

Vertigo (and anyone else interested) I highly reccomend www.CoasterGallery.com for some top notch pictures from a couple of Japanese parks.
