Which Hotel at the Point?

This year will be my second trip to Cedar Point for two days of MF ride time. My dilemma? Which hotel is the best to stay at. Last years trip I had the pleasure of staying at the Breakers Express which then only cost $56 a night, but after calling the CP resort center.. rooms at BE are starting at $110!!! While I do enjoy a night of sleeping minus the steroid laced cockroaches that kick you out of the bed... I'd rather not pay that much for a room that's only used for sleep.

I cant seem to remember any other Hotels in that area that aren't a 20 mile drive to the park. Can anyone out there help? Any suggestions would be appreciated as our Coaster Trek 2001 begins on August 4th! I already have rooms for PKI,SF:WOA, and PKD. It's the elusive CP area that is giving me a fit.

Thanks in advance!

The prices at all hotels in Sandusky go up in the summer. That's just the way it is.

I for one will pay dearly for the convenience of staying in Breakers (Tower or East). Considering that I take the park in spurts on a two-day trip, it's a lot easier to slam the park hard at night after a good hour nap in the afternoon.

I'm also sold on rooms on-point as well, but if you can't afford them, try the Econolodge on Cleveland Rd. All of the Sandusky hotels are high when in season, but you may save a little money here. If you can afford an on point room (after seeing the high prices at other Sandusky hotels, you may change your mind), you'll find that staying on-point has wonderful fringe benefits, like being able to go back to the room for a break, a drink, or a bite to eat. I get more use of my park time by staying at one of the CP hotels. CP hotels on point offer free parking (Breakers Express is not actually on-point), plus I bring my own food and beverage (I usually choose Breakers - it's easy to go back to the room midday). That $110 rate at BE may not be so out of line with what other hotels charge.

Another tip: Sign up for the funtimes newsletter at CP's website. I got an offer of $20 off per night for a two night stay at Breakers Express. If you're on that mailing list, you are eligible for the discount.

First we Rock - Then we Roll!
In a typical year, I travel to Cedar Point at least 3 times. The early season, and in mid-summer, I'll usually stay either in one of the Sandusky hotels, or at my friend's house in Vermilion. The Halloweekend's trek, I always splurge by staying at Breaker's East.

Nothing beats being able to have your lodging right at the park's side door! Plus, after a long, hard day at the Point, one can hop on over to Friday's, and down many cold ones, never worrying about driving back to the hotel!
You could go online at www.netbooker.com and put in Sandusky Ohio as your destination. It then lists all the available hotels in the area, which is quite helpful. Also, I recommend staying at South Shore Inn, which is beside the Radisson at the Corner of the Causeway. They're inexpensive, and have a GREAT breakfast buffet for only $4.99. Good luck, and enjoy the MF!
Breakers Express. I stayed there and it was clean and the rooms were nice. Don't get fooled because it says "Express".

I'm going to the point nex Friday. Are Sandusky holtes still high, which one would you recomend for a four night stay?
Im going to the point july 10&11. When I looked The roadway was the cheepest. $50 anight
When I went to Sandusky I stayed at the Raddison. It was ver nice, we had a nice little pond where you can dock a boat, and there is a TGIFridays right next to the hotel. And you can sit outside on the deck and just chill. It's very close to the park, the only drive is the cause way, and the hotel itself was just overall good. I enjoyed it very much there, and I'm sure you would to if you go.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people.
We are staying at Breakers Express when we go (see sig). I've heard lots of great things about it...can't to go!

I'm going to be at CP July 10th & 11th. I'll be at SFWOA the 12th of July. See you there!
We stayed at the lightHouse point. Great Views, the Light house are bigger than they look.
Thanks guys & gals for the heads up on the Hotel info. I finally checked my email this morning and did see the $20 off a night offer from BE.. may have to give them a call after all. :)

Thanks once again to everyone who responded.
