I'm also sold on rooms on-point as well, but if you can't afford them, try the Econolodge on Cleveland Rd. All of the Sandusky hotels are high when in season, but you may save a little money here. If you can afford an on point room (after seeing the high prices at other Sandusky hotels, you may change your mind), you'll find that staying on-point has wonderful fringe benefits, like being able to go back to the room for a break, a drink, or a bite to eat. I get more use of my park time by staying at one of the CP hotels. CP hotels on point offer free parking (Breakers Express is not actually on-point), plus I bring my own food and beverage (I usually choose Breakers - it's easy to go back to the room midday). That $110 rate at BE may not be so out of line with what other hotels charge.
Another tip: Sign up for the funtimes newsletter at CP's website. I got an offer of $20 off per night for a two night stay at Breakers Express. If you're on that mailing list, you are eligible for the discount.
