Where would you go if you wanted Airtime?

The best airtime i have had was on Apallos Chariot!!!

Top Three Parks: 1) Islands of Adventure 2) Bucsh Gardens Europe 3) Six Flags Magic Mountain

Coaster airtime, 1) go to Knoebels, 2) get in line for Phoenix, 3) ride, 4) go down exit ramp, 5) make immediate left, repeat steps 2-5 as often as desired.

Cell phone airtime, DON'T go to Knoebels. I can only get reception standing on the roadway bridge next to the pool or standing on top of one of the planters in the open area in front of Phoenix. Doesn't work when I and the person I'm trying to call are standing at opposite sides of the Phlyers.

Coaster airtime I agree with you, but you forgot to mention 1-3 as the "magic seat" for airtime. Also overlooked for airtime at Knoebels is Twister in the back seat.. I almost always get some good pops of ejector.... It just pales in comparison to Phoenix.

Cell phone airtime, only if you're a Verizon customer @ Knoebels.. I have T-Mobile (obviously. :) ) and I have full signal everywhere I go at Knoebels, including inside the shops, and no problems making or receiving calls... roaming on Immix's towers, so I would assume any GSM provider would have the same benefit (including Cingular/AT&T)

^ dannerman, I didn't mention riding in seat 1-3, because my favorite seat is 1-2. I ALWAYS have to be different.

Most times, I don't care about cellular service at a park. I generally leave the phone in the car anyway, unless I'm planning to meet someone, or know that the group I'm in will split up and have to re-group somewhere later. Honestly, when I go to parks, I don't want to be bothered by the "outside world." And I'm definitely not one of those compelled to give a play-by-play of a ride-- from the queue to the brake run-- to someone who's not at the park.

Last summer I had a nine-day, eleven-park trip. I rode 35 new coasters encompassing more than 100 individual rides. At Lakemont Park, on Skyliner, my very last ride of my very last coaster of the very last day of my trip, I smashed my cellphone. Painful irony.
Although the first drop on Skyliner is a surprise. I didn't expect that much air off of it.

Yes, that was the end of my airtime. In more ways than one.

Airtime? How about one of these

If you can find one running well.

Since Knotts' is gone (RIP Tumbler), there's two left in N. America. Mall of America, and Puyallup Fair. Puyallup's might be a *little* more forceful, but that is one TREMENDOUS flat...

Ahh, the Tumbler. I'd love to ride one of those at Knoebels or Coney Island. Imagine how insane they'd run 'em. :)

The Cannonball at Lake Winnie (my former home park) has excellent airtime. It's a small coaster but the smaller hill right after the main drop is one of my top moments. I would say Cedar Point has the best airtime (and Maverick looks like it will provide).

60% of the time it works every time.

Tampa= Busch Gardens Africa and USF BULLS COUNTRY=pretty much the coolest place ever

..except for Cedar Point
..
..and Boston

what can i say? I'm a teenager.

Please! That really does not help with teenagers' image by using that as an excuse. Though I keep forgetting I am no longer a teenager now that I'm twenty, the point is that us young people already can get targeted enough for being immature and you are the very reason for that.

Anyway, I will admit I don't think this is that bad of a topic. I can see how it could be seen as a vs. topic of a favorites topic but so far the only argumentation has been toward sirchubs and not between anyones favorite coasters.

Among the coasters that I have been on, I would like to point out the airtime on Cyclops at Mt. Olympus. The ride isn't filled with airtime but there is one part of that ride that exceeds all others in airtime IMO. If you ride in the back car (which you have to be 18 or older to do) I would even recommend holding on for your first ride. This is coming from someone who has his hands up on every single ride (unless its just pointless such as on some arrow loopers.)

Other excellent coasters for airtime include:
1. Jackrabbit at Kennywood of course
2. Magnum and Blue Streak at CP
3. Big Dipper at GL
4. S:ROS at SFDL or SFA (haven't been on the SFNE one)
5. Zeus at Mt. Olympus also has some nice kicks of air
6. The trio at HW
7. Timbers of course
8. Apollo's Chariot
9. Raging Bull

The list goes on...I'd be lost trying to rank all these coasters.

I rode the one (Hexantanze=Witches Dance) at the Puyallup Fair in September 2006. It seemed a bit on the forceful side and the plastic paneling was making a startling loud rattling noise. The shaking got so bad, we thought the ride was going to break down. Needless to say, it was a white knuckle experience not at all like the time I rode it in 2004 where it was smooth, light and fun. I can see this ride offering air time when it's running right.

Speaking of banging into bars (from another post), I rode Coaster at Playland, BC, in October and got smashed into the lap bar several times. We got tons of air but boy did it hurt. The position of the lap bar can cause some minor bruisaging in the rib cage area! Wooya! We were pretty certain that the bars had been raised a bit since we rode it last time. I remember the bars being much lower and practically falling out of the seat during ejector air moments. Hopefully they won't put in seatbelts next. :(

Didn't Ed break it that day, Bill? I didn't ride, 'cause I like my lunch. ;) *** Edited 1/6/2007 7:45:48 AM UTC by nasai***

Lisa, they haven't changed anything on the trains. They've always been at that height. That said, it's still my #1 as a 'bruiser.' I do give the comfort/airtime/general enjoyment trophy to Phoenix at Knoebels. What a beauty.

Since nobody else has mentioned it, I'd head to Liseberg in Sweden and ride Balder.

My DAD has actually ridden Balder (some business trip...had a free day). He isn't really an enthusiast so I couldn't pull anything out. He did say "I was about to fall out the whole ride". Doesn't say much so I shouldn't have posted this comment.

Robbio, Hexentanz did have a small hiccup that day, and you are right about the timing...it was back up within 15-20 minutes I think. Sometimes it's important to know WHEN to get in line.... :)

I have to say that Tumbler at Knott's seemed to make the least "creaking" noises...probably more *secured* that either MoA's (medium-noisy)or Puyallup's (noisiest)....all those exterior panels, Lisa, are probably the reason yours is SO loud...but they DO keep people from taking a header off the ride platform... ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the Stratosphere Tower yet. ;)

I know it's Gator's favorite place to be, and my favorite place to enjoy the height WAY too much, right Bill? :)

"Don't lean on the glass, Tina! Don't you see the signs?"

"Nope." ;)

The X-Scream is underrated as far as enjoying height, but I am ONLY interested in the front seat. If only we got to ride Insanity. :(
