where would hersheypark add another coaster

gator - What's going on in Gurnee, you ask? They're gonna "TAER IT DOWN!"

Glad you liked Hershey so much, I never made it during my last PA trip. I got tied down with the family, and only got to hit up Kennywood.

Yes, a park like Hershey has plenty of room.

chris....but to what end.....SFGAm has more than enough space left, and there's NO real need to "taer down" either Shockwave or Whizzer.....shoot, the walkway from Viper back to *the midway* is big enough to build another coaster....;)....thought I got mis-directed into the Chi-town marathon or something...

gator- All kidding aside, this is what I'm thinking: No one rides that beast, so what's the point in having it around?

Maybe a new coaster will go there, or maybe it will just be parking again (there still are yellow lines). Either option is more useful in the long run than "The Chiropractor."

I agree, there is certainly enough land in/around the park to put in a new attraction without removing existing ones. They'd just have to be creative about it.

But this is about Hershey, isn't it? :)

well, we're still (kinda) on topic, seeing as the original point is "space restrictions"....you and I have been on CE, and know these limitations are all BUNK! The best rides are built where there is no space available...

And Hershey still has room....but tearing down coasters to make room is just plain stupid IMO unless there are serious "other issues" with an existing ride....

Exactly Gator

IB is a thing of beauty. Stuff on top of stuff on top of stuff and in some cases on top of water.

HW I think now qualifies as wel with the way Zoombabwe goes over Legend.

Why Shockwave, Tidal Wave, Whizzer of whatever needs to be taken out of a place that has that much empty space is beyond me.

Look at Cedar Point too Magnum is the perfect example of how things need to be done.

To Jim Fisher and SLFAKE (I'm going back to a comment made many posts ago):

You're right about coaster footings doing very little to restrict water flow... however, I remember reading somewhere that Hershey actually did hve a problem getting approval for Great Bear's footers in the creek. From what I understand, that is the reason why there are no footers in the lake but rather those peculiar supports on the river banks.

Well those funny supports make the greatest footchoppers ever.

When you start sticking footers in water, a lot has to do with the legal status of the water. However, a storm water impoundment has very little legal restriction in most cases as long as it continues to provide the required retention capacity.

gator - While I normally would agree with you about a ride not having to go, I am not going to shed a tear over Shockwave. It's rough, no one rides it, and something better could be there. And if SF puts it in another park, even better: A "Neglected SF Park (one of our CBuzz catch-phrases)" gets to cash in on Shockwave, while we get something cool at SFGAm.

Patrons of SFAW/SFEG/SFDL/SFGE, etc., behold, we give you your newest thriller: "Chiropractor!"

Maybe this could be the new advertising slogan: "One park's trash is another park's treasure."

Like I said, I'd usually agree about not "TAERING IT DOWN," but I think it's justified in this case, particularly if the ride is relocated. That land is better used for parking than for Shockwave.

freakylick, unlessssss I've forgotten sssssometing at HP, I was referring to the Sssssidewinder, which really was the only "dud" there IMO....the only coaster that got "one for the count"-ed

Silly me...I'm a little slow...I didn't get your "ssss" reference in your first post...Actually I thought you were referring to Trailblazer since many people seem to look at that ride as a waste. IMO, I agree that Sidewinder is the worst of the bunch, but then again, I just don't like boomerangs in general. It's the only coaster that I haven't been on at HP yet this year in my half dozen visits...and I probably won't ride it when I go this Sunday either.

Happy Coastering!

Sean
