When pictures don't do justice

I vote for X as well. After following up on construction and then actually going to the park for the first time since it began construction...the thing is absolutely monstrous and "pictures don't do it justice." Millennium Force however, looked as it did on paper and screen. Didn't surprise me much. But Power Tower was a lot larger than I imagined. It looks A LOT taller than my local Supreme Scream (which is actually taller than PT by 12 feet) - probably since the four-legs make it much more intimidating.
TTD is on top of the list for me. The only way I could explain it was that it was so big that it didnt even look real. From the Hotel Breakers parking lot, looking at it seemed almost like a vision or a daydream instead of it really being there.

Millennium Force as well, but mostly for the night show with the lights on the support structure. Seeing it in person as opposed to pictures really leaves no room for comparison.

I'm adding S:TE to my list, but only from a distance. The first time I passed SFMM on the highway, it looked like an artist's rendering come to life. It just looked so ridiculously tall and thin, towering over Goliath and Colossus.

Phantoms Revenge/Steel Phantom. Pictures never show just how long that 2nd drop really is....

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000.
Track Record: 62 coasters at 17 parks.

X and Millennium Force. Especially X.

Honorable mention to TTD.

Lightning Racer was a surprise for me too. It was much better than it looked -- not that it looked bad, it was just that good :)

Agreement on Coaster at PNE and also for X. I got to see one of the first ever test runs of the trains... I was like "Holy $@#^!!!" You simply cannot believe the SIZE of this thing.

Xcellerator at KBF actually... I'll never forget the first time I saw it go over the top - from five miles away. I can only imagine how TTD looks... drool.

I also gotta give a shout out to a couple of coasters that may not be the most exciting, but which are certainly better than thier pictures - Matterhorn and Space Mountain. I mean, they look pretty and all, but you don't get to see the track. Unless you know people. :-)

Thanks for all of the responses. It looks like I will have to add X and Boulder Dash to my "things to do" list.

....WAY in the minority here, but SFNE's Cyclone is the ride to RIDE, BoulderDash is better to LOOK at....;)

I've never seen a good photo of Apollo's Chariot. You can't even get near it inside the park.

Amen, Moosh. Our experience this summer was exactly the opposite of Gator's. Couldn't get enough of BD... couldn't wait to get off of NE's Psyclo... oops Cyclone.
For me it had to be SROS at SFA. I was disappointed because I didn't get to ride SROS at SFNE since it was closed because of the collision. I didn't see what the big deal was and I thought that Apollo's chariot was ten times better than this ride. Boy was I wrong, the speed and airtime on this ride was crazy. Especially the last bunny hop, I felt like I was going to get tossed out of my seat.
You know.... it occurs to me that the entire park Six Flags Fiesta Texas might fall into this category. It's set in an abandoned Quarry and from the pictures looks like it would be absolutely gorgeous in person. But then it IS a SF park... so who knows?

A nod to Phantom's Revenge, Thunderbolt, and Jack Rabbit at KW. Yeah they look fun, but all 3 are way more intense than you'd think.

So long Stealth, don't forget to write...

I know that the pics of White Cyclone at Nagashima don't do it justice. It is way larger, and way cleaner (read as WHITE!) in person. It also is one of the greatest wooden rides on the planet, and the POV doesn't do it justice either.

Help me come up with something new to put into this space. Please?
Amen :)

Yeah, Im putting another vote in for Boulder Dash. With all the trees and foliage, you really cant get a clear picture of the ride, or its drops and speed. Whizzing though the trees and going up and down the mountain side is one of the best experiences on a coaster, not to mention that it is a totally unique experience. Pictures just cant capture the thrill and sheer fun of the ride. I drove 5 hours for it (and s:ros at sfne) it it was so worth it!

Pictures could never do it justice........u all need to ride it!

Wicked Twister looks not as insane as it is. The ride is crazy. Looking strait down 200' and stalling while twisting. The name is right it's a wickedly twisted ride.

Top Thrill Dragster also looks big on pictures but the ride is gigantic when you stand on the midway looking up.

As far as TTD, this is one pic I feel DOES do it justice:
