SF isn't alone.
Yes they are.
Six Flags sucks and no matter what they do it is the worst, the most expensive and the most engineered to suck the fun and money out of you. They should be tried in a court of law and hanged for their crimes against the enthusiast community.
I see the sarcasm, but my visit to Great Adventure was just not as fun as my visits to Cedar Fair parks. I'd visit little ol' Kennywood anytime, or even Morey's Piers. My visit to Morey's was fantastic!

just received an email that they're planning to do a commercial shoot next Wednesday the 25th and it will be done on both KK & Zumunjaro
Not just a jab at you, Travis.
I don't think Six Flags will ever shake their rep with the enthusiast community.

Someone agrees with me that Six Flags sucks at opening rides on time, here on CoasterBuzz? Am I in The Twilight Zone or something? :)
Considering that have only 4 posts, and just joined today, I call shenanigans! It's you, isn't it, Krause? ;)

I think it should be on a park by park basis. I enjoyed my visit to SFGAm in '04 and my visit to SFGAdv in '07. My visit to SFMM in '14 felt subpar, awful, and typical "Six Flags sucks!" kind of experience.

C'mon now. It could be his little brother in the other bedroom.
I've had nothing but exceptional visits to Great Adventure.
I had the opportunity to leave and go to knoebels for a first visit to that park once and I stayed at GAdv. Till close.
Yeah, I've been there three times and really enjoyed each visit. There were certain things on a couple visits that weren't optimal, (the first visit was during that ridiculous era when they had added approximately seven hundred forty-two new flats and seven hundred forty-one of them were closed), but other than that I've had no complaints.
Ka was down in my first visit but I'd ridden TTD. Toro and Nitro are the stars anywho.

not this season. nitro has been running terrible all season, especially the C train. the ride is rough as hell. SFGadv maintenance needs to get on the ball and fix the roughness on nitro.
I kinda get the "meh" feeling that Travis is expressing towards Great Adventure in some ways. I absolutely love Toro and Nitro, and Batman is a great invert. Most of the other coasters there are decent to good. There are areas of the park that are very pretty. Usually the employees are well-mannered and efficient. There's nothing WRONG with the park that I haven't experienced at other parks, but there's just something missing. I can never quite put my finger on it, but I've also noticed this feeling at Six Flags America (even with the complete 180 SFA has made...I still cannot say enough about the enthusiasm of the employees and the cleanliness of the park from my last visit). I DO feel a bit more satisfied with a Cedar Fair park visit or a visit to Hershey or Morey's or Knoebels, but I'm just not sure why.

Me too, but I haven't been there since Diamondback or Banshee. Or Italian Job. Or X-Flight. Or Maverick.
I only went to SFGAdv once, but I liked it. Everything was open, and I don't particularly remember what I paid for parking.
(note: I know it isn't called X-Flight, but I can't remember what it is called and you know exactly what the hell I'm talking about so no need to correct me.)
Hi
That's how I feel about SF Great America. Perfectly nice park, couple of great coasters, plenty of good rides, but.... eh.
Proximity plays into that a bit, I think. For me here in Chicago, SFGA is close enough that I really can't justify spending money on renting a car, paying for gas and parking.... but it's far enough way that getting there by public transportation is not really convenient, or fast.

I always single out Kings Island, but in all fairness I get that same vibe from all of the Paramount properties. Kings Dominion especially, Canada's Wonderland mostly too and even, to a much lesser degree, Carowinds.
I was at SFGAdv Sunday night and Monday. (for first time, had a blast, El Toro was amazing..anyway...) Sunday KK opened around 4pm, and was closed Monday, as mentioned already, for the week. Saw the drop tower doing some tests Monday. Basically all three cars would ride to the top, then descend slowly. That's all i have to report....
Edit: after reading more of the thread, here's some other comments. Nitro seemed to ride pretty smooth (my first ride on it) but looked dilapidated, especially the trains, and ride ops were lousy (read: slow). I was surprised by the G's in the helix portion, i started to grey out a little. Overall i was impressed by the ride, but less than impressed by Six Flag's upkeep and operation of it. They shined in other areas though, for instance Dark Knight, which was very well done. Anyhow it was a great park to visit, with a few issues, but i'll be back i'm sure.
The press preview for Zumanjaro will take place at noon on Wed., July 2. Preview for season pass holders is on July 3. Ride will open to the public on July 4, the park's 40th anniversary. Once again, my timing is slightly off. Was going to go to the press preview but with so much uncertainty as to when this would take place I made plans to go elsewhere - so instead of riding Zumanjaro at SFGAD I'll be riding Goliath at SFGA. Already paid a penalty fee once to change my flight to Chicago b/c Goliath didn't open on schedule and not about to pay the airline again to make yet another change. Sigh!
Hampton, you got that right about Nitro. Upkeep is not what it should be. C train needs new wheels and lap bars are cracked. Was comparing it to Behemoth, which looks pristine by comparison, but then Nitro is 7 years older than Behemoth. Someone else who likes Dark Knight! I happen to like that ride but hung out one day with someone who hates it and am not sure why.

To me, CW has a different, and better, feel than the other Paramount properties. By the same token (and it's been a while) I've always felt that Great America was the ugly step-sister in the chain. When that feeling was conveyed to PP management - fully expecting a full-throated denial (right before the sale to CF), it was basically confirmed that the real bigwigs at PP felt that way as well, that PGA was a dog and didn't warrant serious investment.
