When do you think Kingda Ka will reopen again??

I would IMAGINE, since the brakes were damaged extensively, that the State has to recertify...as far as *fault*, sounds pretty clear it's Intamin and/or their subcontractors.

Ask Clementon how easy it is to get Jersey bureaucrats moving...;)

You see here is why i have never gone to the park:
Medusa- Besides being the 1st, heard its an average short ride
B:TR- Tame, rode it some where else
S:UF- diddo
B:TC- Far from a 1st class coaster
GASM- Nothing too special about this ride, good ride but wont travel to the east coast for it
Nitro- I will give you this one, from what I have heard its a pretty underated coaster.
Ok time for me to stop trying to defend GAdv.. You all can go elsewhere and I will enjoy the new improved GAdv even without KK this park is a great place to be this season. Hence going on a concert night and not caring about riding anything but that short ride referenced above.

Watch the tram car please....
I was hoping it would open in the next 3 weeks are so (aka when I go), but it's looking pretty grim right now. I'll probably still go, I would love to get some more Nitro/Medusa/Batman: The Ride laps and get some credits I missed in 2002 (Chiller, obviously Superman, Mine Train). I'm sure I'll enjoy myself with Kingda Ka closed or open.

My advice. Don't expect it to be open again this year. Parts both major and minor have to be fabricated, shipped, installed, tested and certified, just like the thing never opened. Also, like above, there might be legal issues and arguments might be going on as well.

IF, and I say if it opens before the end of the year, we should be excited and surprised.

Well, actually, the parts are already there and being installed as we speak. Things are moving along swiftly.

However, I must agree about legal and state issues. Thats rather unknown at this time.

Jar, Medusa is hardly short at almost 4000 feet long. And something about Batman: The Ride this season has all of the locals talking. It seems to be almost too intense at times. I just rode back seat last night and couldn't get over how forceful it was.

Also, for what its worth, I am not aware of any state intervention at this time. The ride was already certified to operate and "broke down" without any passengers on board. There was no accident to report. But.... this is NJ so who knows.

Think of it this way if no one wants to go there because one ride is shut down. Then good the lines will be shorter.

KK will not open until after Steel Dragon 2000 does (lol)

I never heard anyone put the word "tame" and B:TR in the same sentence until this topic.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

LOL Chi, I felt the same way about the B:TC comment....FAR from a first-class coaster? I've ridden nearly every shuttle in N America, and along with Anton flywheels and Mr. Freezes, B:TC stands on top of the heap. The inlines, backwards, with lapbars, that's about as thrilling as it gets in my book! :)

I'll be at GAdv in late July/early August, with or without Ka, and I'll be a happy camper. RT racing again? I guess the changes I've heard about really ARE going on, and SFNJ is def. one of the top-tier parks around....(alothugh they'll be better once a new woodie shows up)... ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

It was clearly said that at the time when it had that major breakdown, they then said that it will be down for a few weeks, meaning being reopened probably middle of august or the end of august, if lucky, possibly at the end of july.

I plan on going in August and I honestly don't care if it's open or not. I've ridden TTD, and it's a rush, but It's not worth it for me to wait 4 hours for KK and have it break down.

I'm much more excited about riding my first Flying coaster, Superman:UF, as well as their other great B&M's and Batman+Robin. All those look like great coasters and still give me enough reason to go. Besides I have an SFDL pass so I get free admission ;)

uh wow, then you weren't on B:TR.

Actually, it isn't going to open. Instead they are going to use it as the worlds largest drying rack, and right next to it Whirlpool is going to construct the world's largest washing machine.

I went to the park today hoping to get some good pics and a few Medusa laps during the Gin Blossoms show.... well that plan was derailed by Mother Nature. Seems that instead of hail mixing with the nasty rain we had she decided to throw a tornado warning up, which closed the park. Oh well... It was really odd to be walking around a park with none of the rides running and not many people there.

Watch the tram car please....
I would say the end of August, hopefully. Who knows though. Until then, go to Sandusky. My uncle was just at GADV, and he said that the trains are no where to be seen, track is missing where it happened, and no one was working on KK. *** Edited 7/4/2005 3:22:58 AM UTC by coasterniece***

CP was amazing, going back next June to ride Maverick

...reopen again?

Well, first they need to fix and then break it again -- and then fix it once more.

That could take ages.

But Maddie, it's a ROCKET....should break for the second time shortly after it's initial reopening, no? ;)
The ride will be ready for inspection in early August, Most of the parts are at the park now and are being installed. The ride will hopefully open in September considering NJ will not give them an easy time. The ride will reopen this season.

Does anyone have any pictures of KK with track missing?
