whats up with the guy in the back?

Is the guy in the back a ride op or something? It looks like he is standing.

Hes a break-man. He basically rides along with the train and provides the brakeing. This is a very old coaster, and not the only one like it from what I heard.

A brake-man? LOL!!!!!!

I'm not sure what type of restraint he has, if any, but hand-braked coasters usually tend to be fairly tame. Actually, they don't have to be, but the brake man will usually make sure it is. That is, unless you get a bunch of enthusiasts on ;)

Wasnt there a java game in some language other than English in which you had to pilot one ot those trains?

I wish I still had that link...

....there was an article on the ride in an issue of RC! He is the brakeman, and IIRC, he's strapped in sort of like you are on a carousel horse. He's reponsible for keeping the speeds "appropriate". If you should valley, he's responsible for getting snacks and beverages for those who help get the train back to the station....

and, as fate would have it joe., that game is still on my work computer....I can get you the link on Monday IF it still works (I last played about two months' ago)...

La Vie Boheme!!!

If you go to the pictures and pick the one of the lift it appears as if the lift is a rope. is he resonable for the lift too?

While we go up the lift I'd ask, "How fast ya wanna go?" And if they said REALLY FAST I wouldn't even touch the brake.

Why do they report power outages on TV?

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

So what's your scores then? I just got 100. Last time i played it, last year i think i got abit more than that.

I have ridden one coaster with a brakeman, Rutchebanen at Tivoli Garden. A really nice classic coaster, but not ACE classic for some reason, anyone knows why?

Here are some criteria used by ACE for determining Classic Coasters:

No headrest, single lap bar, no seat divider, guest must be able to choose their own seat, etc.

Rutchebanen has no headrest, a singlelapbar, no seat divider but althought guests has to "fight" for the first row with other riders and jumps on the train while it's moving. The seats are treebenches so it can hurt pretty much when your butt lands. The ops can never staple be course of the lapbars that can't go all the way down to the lap.

This coaster is from 1914 so it can't get so much more classic than it allready is.

Anyone know what the three ratings at the end of each run are for? I wish I had an english version of this game.
