The anti-rollbacks disengage when the train is moving forward. It's still a traditional chain lift. Here's the motor:

Ok, now i understand, but why dont they put this system on more coasters?
Jeff, can you please explain how the anti-rollbacks disengage. Is is the same system used on Stealth?
If I am not mistaking, all B&M'S are like this. It isn't perfectly silent, if you are on the ride you can hear it.

I don't know when B&M decided to start doing this. Raptor is deafeningly loud but Talon is silent.

If it works anything like the Intamin method, a wheel runs on some piece of track (the Supermen have a vertical fin the entire length of the lift). The wheel generates a current that apparently pulls the anti-rollbacks off of the "sawtooth" so there is no noise.

This is particularly interesting when the things do engage on a stopped train, because the train rolls back a foot or so until the rollbacks catch.

Have I ever mentioned I was on SFA's Superman when the chain broke? :)

Man, i would love to see the looks on peoples faces when that happens lol!
When I was on Roar at Marine World it stopped and rolled back about a foot. Most of the people were freaking out. It was kind of startling.
LOL
