What's up with no Favorites!!!!
I think that we should be able to have favorite forums. What is wrong with it???? I don't think I'm the only member who thinks this. There is no reason not to have them.
I think that the reason is that people would start to argue over what coaster is better and it would get out of hand. I see both points of view on this one but the best way to deal with controversy is to avoid it all together.

So, let people argue, it'snot gonna make a difference. If you want to argue about it, go into the forum, if you don't want to, don't it is that simple, there is still controvsery because there is that rule and some people think that is stupid.
Gee, isn't your screen name a violation of TOS. Jeff, i think this one guy looking to start a fight on the threads, especially since he just recently signed-up and thats all he wants to do is have a grudge match.
Look they are not allowed because CoasterBuzz isn't about a grudge match site or a battle of the coasters website. If you don't like it then too bad and leave or go make your own site just for favorite coaster forums. But please not here! CoasterBuzz is about sharing information, ideas, rumors and news.

Another reason for not having a favorites forum is nobody really cares what your favorite coaster is. Do you really want to read a thread where there are 150 different posts that say "my favorite coaster is this because it has great airtime" and "well my favorite coaster is this because it is awesome." I think that everybody will get pretty bored of reading different posts where people just talk about their fav coaster because the thread does not advance at all and there really is no point to a thread where people just list their fav rides and say "Hey my favorite ride is MF too, you really have good taste." I know I wouldn't read that forum. Also, when there are favorite threads and vs. threads, arguments begin to rise and soon the thread could break away from coasters and turn into personal attacks on a person's character and judgement. Nobody wants to read a thread where people just curse at or argue with people that "CP is better than SFMM because it's my homepark etc." (How many times have there been CP vs. SFMM threads. They have to be the most commonly deleted threads because you can't compare 2 totally different parks on opposite sides of the US. And once and for all, neither park is ever competing with each other over coasters.) Favorite threads get real boring real fast and everybody will get tired of them, they are a waste of time. If you want to have favorite threads then post at a different website that allows them.

Yeah, people will argue, no doubt. There should be a separate forum for Favorites or Best so the people who want to have these conversations can. I would love a Favorites Forum. Would anybody else?

Its not going to happen. Plenty of sites allow this so if you have the urge to post a "favorite, best, worst, vs., prettiest, ugliest, etc, etc, etc , topic than take it to where its allowed and they put up with it.

ACE, some people may wanna see what other peoples favorite whatever is. There has already been many forums that ask what is your favorite........whatever, they have been closed, but obviously some people who started them wanted to know what other people's favorites were.
If you want to find out people's favorites.... then find out on a different wesbite. It's not my rule so I don't have any say in the decisions around here but if you want to ask about fav's then go to another site or jsut follow the TOS or your threads will get deleted. End of Story

I'm sure that I'm not the only one who would want the TOS changed for the whole favorites thing. And I have posted stuff that doesn't start grudge matches, like "What park needs a new coaster the most?" That doesn't start a grudge match, I mean, it could, but so could any other forum. And Stealth, you said that is why you list your top five in the signature, some people want to know what the favorites are of thrill ride, coasters, parks, type of coasters, ect.

There is a big difference between "need" and "want"... We all "want" a new coaster but we don't all "need" them. I say any "major" park w/o any significant additions after a 3 year time period needs a major expansion, and 4-5 years when they "need" a coaster [we are talking about "chain parks" here]. Any other small kind of park doesn't really "need" a coaster for 8-10 years, no matter how much those people want it.

Sorry, but this isn't a democracy. Jeff isn't about to change the TOS because a few people want something changed (actually, even if it WERE a democracy, a few people wouldn't be sufficient to change it, but that's a different story).
"Favorite coaster" type threads really don't accomplish anything useful, and quickly degrade into arguments (ever read rec.roller-coaster? Whole flamewars have erupted over topics like this.)
