What's the buzz with Shock Wave?

You live at Six Flags? UR TEH COOL!!!!!111one

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

I second SFA as a recepient (and no, I have no advance knowledge being an employee), as we have more land than we know what to do with. The only thing that would be awkward, but not out of the ordinary, is that Shockwave has an almost identical twin three 1/2 hours to the north at Great Adventure with Great American Scream Machine.

If you have a problem with clones, the solution is real simple—Stop traveling.
The weirdest rumor I read @ Coasternet stated that SFGAM is giong to redo Shockwave and put it back into the Park. LOL

The "FAB 5" needs to give Mean Streak a "makeover"

Yeah, its going to become a stand-up coaster. You know, to make it less painful ;)

I thought it was gonna be a 4-D. ;)
The track won't be used again. Arrow is already well into flume production to make it a record-breaking log flume.

With seven inversions, don't forget.

Does sfgam still have room to build more coasters? I am sure they do, but why would they destroy shockwave and put superman there. Couldn't they have just put superman where they had more land and save a coaster?

Yes, SFGAm has more room for new coasters. They tore Shockwave down because it was a piece of crap that nobody was riding.

Definitely SFGAm has the room to put in more coasters. There is at least room for 6 without taking anything out. And that even takes into account no intertwining of rides as well as the fussy neighbors in the neighborhood by the park.

1) Narrow strip of land paralel to railroad at front of park.
2) Behind IMAX theater between Viper and Whizzer.
3) The area around where Powerdive used to be.
4) Next to the American Eagle along Washington Street.
5) The small piece of land behind Orbit and in front of Demon (along the path to Southwest Territory.
6) Going out to the back of the property in line with the American Eagle. (Along Washington Street to Route 21) This area has huge potential as portions of the area along Route 21 is wooded, and away from the park. It also has a pond that a ride could interact with.)

Shockwave will go somewhere oneday. I dont know where or when but I have my doubts it wont get used somewhere when there are plenty of parks that could use a ride of it's magnitude no matter how much it may hurt some of us.

That coaster would look magnificent over a lake...not under it.

Congo Falls - 90 (one day)

Some of those possible areas dont seem very big or even possible for a coaster. The only place that is actually in the park itself is behind the Pictorium near Whizzer and Viper. (ive heard a rumor about that area being used for a new ride) It really is a big space. Also the parking lot next to Raging Bull and the pond area by Superman.

EDIT: After looking at the park map I change what I said. There really isnt much room in the are between Viper and Whizzer and The Pictorium. I guess they can only expand on the edge of the park.

Well it would depend on what type of coaster. Certain types of shuttle coasters could fit in those areas....

Don't Fight It, Ride It, RAGING BULL!!!!!!- Six Flags Great America

The park map is always the worst source to look at a park's space. That map is made so that it looks like every little piece of property is filled to the max. So the map makes that area between Viper, Whizzer, and the Pictorium look a lot smaller than it really is.

2nd Bunny Hill, Superman: RoS SFA = AIRTIME!
BackSeat of COURSE!

SFGAMan: There is plenty of room in many of the areas in the park, especially between the Pictorium and Viper. All you really need is room for the station and queue, and the rest can be cleverly oriented around current structures.
Its funny how in line for Viper on Monday I heard a REGULAR GP peron say the park has no room. His idea: have the coasters on top of each other. :-)

I guess the map is a bad source. And we already have enough Shuttle Coasters.

SFI's budget is only $74 million for 04 expenditures & that's not gonna be much,so if they're smart (like we know they're not) then they'll find a home for SW in the near future.

I'm glad we have profoundly intelligent economic and business experts on these forums. I feel "in the know" now.

Why does everyone assume it's "Shock" and "Wave"? Maybe it's "Sho" and "Ckwave." Or "Shockwa" and "Ve." Or "S" and "Hockwave."

I know you're just joking, but for confirmation the S and W were larger than the other letters on the old sign if memory serves me.
