I was at CP sat. for hte first time this since last may. One of my questions is what did they do to the second big waiting room. Its all walled off with constructed walls. I got on the rails and peaked over the edge and it looks to be a haunted house???? is that for the halloween thing in october? i dont remember these changes last year. also theyve made changes in the last room by welding the rails togehter to make a permanet single pathway.
I just dont get it, the ride isnt a bad ride. its quite fun, it really not even that shortlike everyone says. if they got all the theming going and hte ride operating well again it would be a good addition to the boardwalk.
with all the neglect of DT, what do u think its fate is. will they tear the big investment down along with kiddy kingdom to create a neew area of thepark that is traditionally DEAD as a walkway to the boardwlk.... that whole area is SPACE POTENTIAL.
Rumors about the CP Boardwalk project have been flying around for just about 2 years now. I wonder if it will ever materialize?
The more and more i think about it ... its an awesome idea. that area of the park is home to .(thinking)... nothing!!(except for games and a decaying bobsled coaster and a empty fish tank/stadium. lets get it the heck out of there and use the very valuble acreage for something that will improve th park.

Thw worst part of DT is at the end when the ride op says "Welcome to Alaska." Then you go outside and it's 90 degrees with 90% humidity!

25 summers at the place and you'd think I get a gold watch....instead another wooden coaster. Life is sweet!
As a Disaster ride op, I always said "Welcome to Alaska! Please exit down the stairs back to Ohio!" Corny, yes, but with the theming gradually eroding, you do the best you can. Ah well! Since so few riders generally listen to the ops, and since all the "preshow" effects (especially the old tv monitors) have been reduced/removed, most riders don't get the story anymore anyway.

I always listen to ride ops, sometimes they are hilarious!

There are currently 11 coasters with the name Batman, 8 with the name Superman and 22 with the name Boomerang. Go Colorado Avelanche!

Where are all the video tapes of the DT movie or TV broadcast

You are the Weakest Link, Goodbye.
Hope you didn't take offense, CrystalKat. I have great respect for CPoint's ride ops. Think they are the most professional anywhere!
As for storylines and rides, that doesn't do anything for me. I just go to ride!!!

Oh, no, no offense IB Dave! ;) And yes, a lot of people do listen to the ride ops, and we're grateful for that. Unfortunately, those that most need to listen never do!

Im glad the theming on Disaster Transport is being gradually toned down. I can remember 5 years ago when this was a very popular ride, everyone listened to the little robot in the first waiting room, hopefully this waste of space will eventually be removed for something that can further benefit the park.
I love DT!! It is fun, and a great family ride. you know what i think? i think they should go on with the boardwalk but rename DT avalanche run and make it out in the open again because it would look really rad with some new rides, and of course, that CCI everyone is praying for.

OK, I can see why people bash Mean Streak. I do not see how people can bash DT! Am I the only person that loves the ride? I mean, yeah the theming sucks but it doesn't have an effect on the ride itself. (No I don't like it cause its air conditioned). ravenguy is on my side (We start the "Have fun on DT campaign!").

I thought DT was great fun, but I only got on it once.

DT is good for the kids and parent's right? It's not that bad guys, come on. It's got alotta history behind it! When I worked at CP, they asked us Blue Streak guys if we'd do a favor and help change the lights on the lift. They had yellow lights all the way up the side of the lift and wanted to change them to red. I missed out on employee Magnum night to do this. They said with all the help, we'd be done fast.
It was a nightmare! We had to crawl off the stairs onto greasy I-beams supporting the lift tunnel. It took hours and was kinda dangerous! I had a couple cuts on my leg, was nearly dehydrated. I dunno how management treats the employees anymore, but they told us (this was '93) that since we agreed to help, we couldn't leave till the job was done. It was after 2AM. Everyone was pissed, hurt in someway, tired, and we all missed Magnum night!
Another time, I think it was the same year, a supervisor fell off one of the "islands" that hold all the 'decor' of the ride. The safety railings had been removed, and he fell all the way down to the concrete base. From what I heard last summer, he's still (7+ yrs later) not doing well. Maybe still in a coma?
A CCI woodie would look great there! Dontcha think?

Ow! My lap bar IS down all the way.
CrystalKat:People actually puke on that ride?. Personally, I think the ride is ok. Then again, Ive always been a fan of dark rides.

Dayuum, Your HOT!
D.T. IS a Great Ride.. Its MUCH BEtter since they Inclosed it ! The Air Conditioning is just a plus to the ride !
I'm pretty sure that the area is enclosed for use as a haunted house for Halloweekends.
Oh, yeah, people definately do puke on DT. On the unload platform, in the tiny stairwell, even once in the trough itself so the rest of the shuttles could run through it too. Oh, such a pleasant thing... Since I'd been a sweep, I got pegged for the detail -- you really learn how to hold your breath and not really look at what you're doing!

perhaps a CCI woodie could be place on top of the building or something.
