Your Chairopractor said you have spina bifida? What a quack! Spina Bifida is a birth defect that is easily spotted at birth. Check out the FAQ at http://www.sbaa.org/html/sbaa_facts.html

That would be terrible, but look at the bright side. You could still read CB and magazines, look at pictures, even go to parks and watch, or watch videos of coasters. It wouldn't be the same but better than being paralyzed.
In the meantime, you might find a hobby you like even more than coasters. Who knows?

And, there is nothing to say that any injury you MAY have can't be healed enough to ride coasters in the future.

Good luck. I agree with the rest -- while I would hate to be told I can't ride anymore, if it DID come to it better to be able to walk.

I have a friend who has had two seperate back surgeries and was told that she would never ride a coaster again. Well, even though the last surgery was not a total success, her doctor told her just a few weeks ago that she could ride coasters again as long as she took it easy and went on coasters that werent too rough. She will be going with my wife and I to Great America and SFStl this year. I highly doubt that any fractured vertabrae will keep you permenantly away from coasters for ever. If this diagnosis holds up (and I doubt it will, this chiro-cracker sounds like a quack ), I would think that you would be down for a season or two max.
Anyways, best of luck and let us know how things turn out. I will keep you in my prayers.
Cheers,

Good Luck, NLC...hoping everything turns out OK...keep us posted!
Do we now have a new term: "Chiro-quac-tor"...
personally, i would take my chances! i love them waaay too much to let a doctor tell me i cant. but dont take my advice because it wont do you any good at all. just listen to your doctor for now and ask him how long you should wait before you try something out. BTW, what coaster caused your neck to do that in the first place?

Thanks you guys. I would never risk not walking again for coasters but I would feel like a big part of my life was missing if I couldn't ride them. I dont know the technical stuff about them at all, all I know is that I LOVE to ride them but I'm not giving my life up for them.
I don't know what coaster that I was on that would have done that. He said it looked like an older fracture maybe a couple of years old. I've only ridden coaster at SFWoA and Cedar Point...so take your own guess.
Rollergator OMG that was so funny that I busted out laughing at work and everyone was like "WHATS GOING ON IN THERE!!!???" I told them what you said and they were laughing just as hard as I was..we all had tears in our eyes form laughing so hard! I like Marks too!! Both terms fit this guy like a glove! Needless to say I'm NEVER going back to that chiro-quac-tor again! Quack-o-practor! Ha I'm lovin it!

coasterdude04. I really hope you never have to experience a doctor telling you to stop doing something do to a health risk. They arent telling you this to anger you. Its being told to you so you minimize any risk.
I just recently got out of the hospital last July, and with the condition I had, I was told not to drink alcohol again or I risk further complications. After the pain I went through, I do not want to go through that again so now its non-alcoholic drinks for the rest of my life.
Its smart to get a second opinion when in doubt, but still follow the advice or you might regret it.
