What is the best stand-up coaster?

I also love King Cobra or its airtime. But Mantis is awesome

Sit up right, hold on tight!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Chang by far is the best...all though King Cobra has some awesome airtime.

You can't run and you can't hide...The Beast at PKI
Vortex (Carowinds), as the other standup I've ridden, is fun and intense; however, Mantis is bigger, faster and more fun. Therefore, my vote goes to Mantis.

If only I could get on GA Scorcher or Riddler's Revenge!

The Jet Coaster ROARS!
If you think King Cobra is good, you must have rode yourself retarded. As with some other Paramount rides, this ride is ruined by its restraints. Are they actually supposed to hurt like that? Sitting on that bicycle thing they call a seat feels like wearing an undersized thong (i dont know the feeling of wearing an undersized thong, but i bet it hurts just as much). The ride attendant that strapped me into the shoulder restraints asked me if i was comfortable, and i managed to squeeze the word "no" out of my collapsed lungs (due to the restraints). Then she said "good" as if that would do it for me and moved on to the rider behind me. Next time just take a harpoon and shoot it through my body into the seat. That'll probably be more comfortable.

I am a roller coaster FIEND!
I have ridden Vortex at PGA and Riddler's Revenge at SFMM. RR by far is better that coaster is awesome! Vortex is a very fun nice little ride but doesn't give the thril of Riddler's Revenge. Chnag looks better though.

I would rate the Stand-Up's I have ridden as follows:

1. Riddler's Revenge
2. Iron Wolf
3. Chang
4. Mantis
5. King Cobra

Riddler's is in my top 6 looping coasters along with Kumba, BKF, Raptor, BTR, Shockwave.

The only stand-up that I have been on was Skyrider at PCW. It was an ok ride but the headbanging when you go throught the helix is unbearible.

Iron Wolf, sure, it's rough, but that's not a big factor, that ride is incredible. The other great standups are Riddler's Revenge, Chang, Mantis and the Georgia Scorcher. *** This post was edited by RagingBullGuy on 6/11/2001. ***
One man's trash is another man's treasure. I LOVE KING COBRA!(not yelling, just emphasizing) King Cobra has always been one of my favorite rides at PKI and the restraints don't bother me at all. The airtime, bunny hops, and helices are great. I call Chang and Mantis boring. You're so confined that you feel you're just on a motion sim or something. i find the "feeling" to be much slower, too smoothe, and more painful in my opinion. The pain really doesn't matter that much. Just that they're so boring. There it is! I've got it! The layout and elements are too spread out for my tastes. I would seriously rather ride an SLC. At least those are slightly more fun, more jerky, and less painful to me anyways. Transitions on the standups are too smooth for me. I like KC jerkiness. More thrilling.

Danny, who hopes B&M will stick to what they do best(IMO), everything else

One word- Bumpy
Ive only been on Mantis and Riddlers Revenge... but RR is an AWESOME ride I must say, ranks with my "normal" coasters in the Top 5!

I've only been on Riddler's Revenge, but it was awesome and I don't see any stand-up topping it.
Riddler's Revenge definetly... every other stand up has nothing compared to this...
I was disapointed in Mantis

PCW needs something taller than a boomerang
Riddler's Revenge all the way! They don't come taller or more intense than that!
King Kobra hurt my package and I really don't like it.

magic mountain and CP rule
I've ridden King Cobra, Shockwave, Skyrider, Chang, Mantis, and Vortex. Hands down without a doubt, in my mind the best is ........... King Cobra and Skyrider (same ride layout, different names). It has the airtime that no other stand up has. If you get in the very back you experience the airtime down the entire first drop. As for the "uncomfortable" restraints, I have always stood up so the bicycle seat has never been an issue. also if you hold onto the handles and hold the over the shoulder restraints out slightly and keep them held there when they come around to check there is plenty of room for you while still keeping you safely held in. Chang and Mantis are two very good rides but they just don't have that airtime.
Riddlers Revenge FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Mantis!!! The tight turns make it a very intense ride

i wouldnt go as far as wanting to ride a SLC than a B&M, but King Cobra is my favorite. Primative, yes. Painful, sometimes, but still an extreme ride in my books. The whole airtime factor wins it for me, plus the nostalgia of being the first U.S. stand-up looper.(does anyone remember the lake under the helix?)

Riddler's Revenge
I've only ridden Iron Wolf and I loved it! a little rough, but a great mother bleeping layout! I'm sure if it weren't B&M's testing ground that it would be a heck of a lot smoother. still, I don't understand why there aren't more of them.
