What has happened to Coasterbuzz?

Oh no, what the CPG could do with that one. :)

No Colonel Sanders. Meet the Deedles is the silly and mindnumbingly unfunny Disney movie about surfing park rangers with Paul Walker (Fast and the Furious/Joy Ride) and Meet the Feebles is the silly yet sickeningly funny adult "muppet" movie from Peter Jackson (yes, the same guy who brings you the Lord of the Rings films, lol). And just so no one has to ask, neither of those have any relation with the DeNiro/Stiller box office smash comedy, Meet the Parents.

Now, just guess which films each Crabbe, Focker, and Wynyard are from.

-Danny, who could see how someone would mix them up ;)

Oh, I've seen bad taste which was an awesome gorefest horror movie/grossout comedy by jackson. But i've never heard of meet the feebles. I'll have to goto suncoast and see if it's there next time I get the chance.

You mean a Spike Lee Joint?! Mmm...

CS, if you like goofy horror flicks, check out Jackson's Dead Alive and The Frighteners.

I just reserved meet the feebles at suncoast. I hope it's going to be good. Speaking of jackson who is going to screw him out of the best director oscar this year?

I hope you like it too. My guess is Martin Scorsese will take it for Gangs of New York (haven't seen it yet though), but I really, really want P.T. Anderson to get it for Punch-Drunk Love (at least for Screenplay if not). My other favorites this year are for Adaptation, Chicago, and The Hours for Direction. I wouldn't mind if any of them took home the Oscar! :)

As long as Jackson made Return of the King as powerful as the first two, he will definitely walk away with a little naked, gold man. There's always a chance something could blow it away, but I'm betting it should win at least Best Picture and Direction next year (don't count on either for 2003... a lot of love for Chicago right now).

Punch Drunk Love was amazing. Daniel Day Lewis I think is the top contendor if not jack nicholson for best actor. I think two towers should win best picture but it won't. No fantasy film has ever won best picture. Only one comedy has won best picture which was it's a mad mad mad mad world. Or wait, did some like it hot win?

Two Towers should (but it won't) win definatly win best picture. It's the most amazing film I ever saw.

Emerging from the ashes of Eric 013...

I'll probably go see About Schmidt tomarrow, because I've really heard great things about it. I don't think it's a strong year for actors at all from what I've seen. Sandler and Cage are my two favorites so far, but Chris Cooper was hilarious (I'm sure he'll take Supporting). Actresses on the other hand, I'm up in the air about Catherine, Nicole, and Diane Lane (Unfaithful). A lot of great stuff there.

-Danny

Go see Gangs of NY. Lewis is amazing as bill the butcher.

I saw Catch Me If You Can. Rent it on video, the whole movie just drags on, very boring and pointless (then again I'm 14, adults seem to like it alot more)

Catch me was ok, I didn't really like it. Being 14 has nothing to do with it.

I agree with you Eric, me and my friends went to see that movie (we're high school freshies) and we were all pumped for a good movie and everything and we sat in the chair for like 3 hours. Right after you think the movie ends, it just begins a new scene. Over and over again...

Don't get me started on movies, I like them as much as coasters. Now if you want a good movie to rent - I highly suggest Ghost World - the funniest movie I've ever seen.. But in theaters, I'd suggest Adaptation, it's one screwed up movie.

Edit: And for Oscars - I go to 2 websites year round - Oscarbuzz.com (No joke) and Oscarwatch.com. What I want to win:

Picture: What I want: Adaptation - What Will Win: Chicago

Director: What I want: Scorsese - What will win: Scorsese

Actor: What I want: Nicholson - What will win: Daniel Day-Lewis

Actress: What I want: Nicole Kidman - What will win: Julianne Moore

Screenplay: What I want: Adaptation - What will win: Chicago

Now how off topic are we now...

The Two Towers win best picture? Please. If The Fellowship of the Ring didn't, The Two Towers certainly won't . The whole thing could have been done in half the time it actually was. Don't get me wrong, here: I liked it a lot. But the best parts were definetly the action sequences. And action sequences do not an excellent movie make.

I hear America screaming...

The academy has to stop with the incessant love of Jack Nicholson because his role in About Schmidt was highly overrated. Daniel Day Lewis should get rewarded for a extremely complex character, whats amaingly about his portrayal of bill the Butcher is that the character is entirely despicable yet the viewer sympathizes with Bill. That is what good acting is about .

I am very dissapointed that incredible moving and and uniquely amazing films like 25th hour, (Best joint spike has rolled since Do theRight Thing), Minority Report, Talk to her, Narc, The Grey zone, and I will throw in Insomnia, which was loaded with excellent performances and great directing again fron Chris nolan.

Being from Omaha you have to go for About Schmidt

Peter Jackson WILL win the best director Oscar NEXT year. He will be honored for the breadth of the trilogy, not any individual movie, because although they are (so far) fine films, only upon completion can any one Oscar voter see what he fully intended and realized. This year looks like The Hours or Chicago (my pick). Too bad, because Adaptation is the best, most original work in years, and Kaufman's luck won't win the statue. Come on Charlie! You have my vote!

Must not let thread die.....So who gets best sound? You know you're in trouble when you discuss your picks for the best sound oscar.

The Two Towers reeked if you ask me. Peter Jackson was way, way way too enamored with his castle set and pissed away the Ents, Gandalf's return and pretty much everything else. I still would have forgiven him if he had the courage to end the movie where the freakin' book ends...in true cliffhanger fashion.

Nasai, you bring up a good point about Lord of the Rings, it will probably get the recognition it deserves in the third installment more than the other two films. the academy really likes to award people who have been shafted hence the Danzel best actor for Training Day when he really should have won for the Hurricane. Although, the first one did pick up 4 awards, it was absolutely robbed of best picture and best director by the little weasel most hollywood of all directors, Ron Haward and his vastly overrated and cheesy "Beautiful Mind". That film was carried all by Russel Crowe but was entirely ruined by the overly contrived ending. However, the best movie by far for 2002 was Momento, I was so pissed that is was not recognized for anything since it was the most truly brillantly original film of the year.

Cplaya, I gotta say that maybe you are too loyal to the book becuase the movie was purely magical. I think you might be the first person to sat that it reeked.
