What Happened to The Personal Buzz?

On the bottom of my page, where the Personal Buzz would be, it's gone! Where did it go, or did Jeff take it off?

It's now a feature exclusive to Club members. Ditto for track records and making entries to the meeting calendar.

I don't get the track records part, I can still view mine.

You can still view it, but you can't add to it. Whatever you've already got in there is "grandfathered" so to speak.

Why?

This sucks.

Mamba, if you would like to use the Track Record feature, join the CoasterBuzz Club at http://www.coasterbuzz.com/club, instead of complaining about it. It only costs twenty dollars.

Something NEW is coming to the Buzz...

What? This is rediculous! why charge for Track Record, Personal Buzz and Meeting Calendar when they have always been free? It must just be to get members to join the club.

Because none of it is ever free. Someone has to pay for it, and it's just not going to be me all of the time.

This is why people going on killing rampages.  Stupid comments.  Jeff could just take the whole site away.  That comment just makes me want to scream.  Ungrateful Son of a B...

yah, Jeff has to make some money...

good point coaster crazy

wow, the lines are pretty clearly drawn here.  anyway, the items that are availabe to club members are rarely used anyway (with the exception of the track record).  I don't see any problem with this, but complaining isn't going to help you.  nor is calling the complainers names going to get the name-callers anywhere.  certain features now have charges, love it or hate it that's the way it is and complaining and name-calling isn't going to change anybody's mind.  this is life, deal with it.

It would be nice if people who were members before the club, were allowd to keep these features, and that only new members had to pay. It would also be nice to offer NEW features for having to pay a membership fee.

However, I am not complaining. This is by far the best coaster site out there. I WILL be joining eventually, but right now, event $20 is a good chunk of money to me. :(

Don't you think you are over-reacting?  It was not a stupid comment at all.  He has a right to be upset because a feature he previously used free of charge now cost money.   I think you need to calm down.

Like someone said, the lines are drawn here.

For the record... I was one of the complainers about charging for items previously free. However, not any more. No, I did not join the "club" (and for the record its not in my imediate plans), I just stopped complaining. The only thing no longer available that I used was the track record. Since I kept a detailed track record in Excel for myself (manufacturer, date of first ride, number of rides in x year, etc), its no real loss except that no one else can click on it on the site and see it (oh, the vanity).

So... to those who complain... knock it off. If you have Excel or any spreadsheet, use that to keep track of your record (or even a paper note book... you know, those things people used BEFORE computers... will work).

As to those Club members (and others) who like to resort to "name calling" to those who do complain... knock it off. While it has been officially stated by some in other posts, the intent of the club is not to create a "class" system, however it appears that there are those who are in fact drawing that line. Again, knock it off. No one forced you to join, please stop trying to pressure those who have chosen not to at this time to come on board.

i think that making people pay for such simple and heavily used items is just a way for jeff to pocket something.

I didn't have to pay to type this post!

How can you complain?  The rest of this site is free, and it is not like Jeff did this out of the blue!

uhh...just for the record, Jeff doesn't "pocket" anything to my knowledge.  in fact he may even be losing money on this site.  but I guarantee you that the club money stayes with the site.  if Jeff even attempted to touch that money he could be in serious legal troubles.  it would be like the owner of a company mixing the company's account into his or her own account.  you have to keep the two seperate and I'm sure that Jeff has things well seperated.

the main purpose of this site is to get news to people and to let people talk to each other.  that is free.  its all the extra stuff that you have to pay for so you are being ripped off in no way.  granted the extra things used to be free, but they were rarely used and can be easily replicated.  as was mentioned above, use a spreadsheet to keep your track record.  want somebody to go to a park with you?  call your friends.  friends can't go?  post a message about the park and include that you're planning on going on a certain day and invite the buzzers to meet up with you.

Legal trouble? It's my business, I can burn the money if I want to.

But the fact is that ad revnue is $400/month, and the Net connection to Sprint alone is $1,200/month. You do the math.
