It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

A lot of hosts have been popping up lately that offer an extremely high amount of bandwidth for an extremely low price. And 99% of them seem to not only suck, but disable your account for going over the limit when in reality, you didn't even come close.

I'm using http://uptownwebhosting.com right now (and have been for the past year or so)... they are a great host, but their bandwidth provider causes some issues.

The reason most hosting companies suck is due to a variety of reasons. Most hosting companies these days do not even have their own servers. Some lease space off an already crowded server and then sell it to you. Some hosting companies are hosting off a home built PC's with a slow connection speed.

There are a variety of reasons. The Truth is, if you are trying to save money on Hosting your speed, uptime, and overall reliability will suffer. Do some research, Pay the extra $10-20 a month and get good service for you and your visitors.
*Handy Hint - Some of the really good, decently priced, hosting companies do not openly advertise that they host. Find a good developer and sneak around the site a bit, you might find hosting is something they offer.

Also, if they don't tell you what their bandwidth involves, be skeptical. I would never use a host that didn't have connections to at least two major backbones.
