I find it hard to believe that it can be sold due to the way it was brutally ripped out of the park. This ride was not carefully dismantled in a manner that would suggest it could be rebuilt.

Why did the yellow track have to be retracked?
What did spiral Cone do and how did it break?
1) Parts of Windjammer yellow were replaced and realigned because of incredibly rough transitions2) The spiral cone is what made Windjammer very unique and added greatly to its theme. The spiral cone was a cone-like mechanism sitting in the center of the helix finale. What it did was emitt a spiraling wind effect while releasing artificial fog. Thus, creating a visible, man-made "hurricane" that matched the movements of the helix element perfectly as riders would think they are being spun around in the eye of the pacific storm. Clever isn't it? I'm sad because the entire ride was a very clever concept and it was very well themed. Incredibly well themed, more than some other notable mentions today.
In the picture above, you can point out the Spiral Cone mechanism which I described above. Look a bit northeast of the u-turn at the top of the lift. You can see 3/4 of the helix finale. And that UFO shaped "cone" is what it looks like.

The Windjammer COULD have been used as an indoor ride!! As an indoor ride, there is no wind resistance (unless you count the air-conditioning ). If somebody bought the ride, they could have enclosed it.
I guess maybe the reason it wasn't (aside from being rough), is something somebody mentioned before... that it took a very large footprint for a somewhat small ride.

...Wondering what the 2002 season holds for all parks...
You must be out of your mind. Despite what many of you think, Windjammer takes up A LOT of space. Don't let its statistics fool you, or even the pictures. The ride spans quite a large parcel of land, and not let you forget it is a racing, two-tracked roller coaster. In order to have housed WJ indoors, you would have to have built a VERY large building. Even the Flight of Fear, and RocknRollercoaster rides don't take up as much space as WJ.
One word to describe it would be unique
But the problem was design sucked....
This is also the way viper at SFAdv is.
It has AWESOME theming, an awesome first drop, and two awesome inversions. But the problem is it is way to short and rough (But I know how to brace myself so I have no problem with it)
I also describe it as unique...I glad that their is a good chance that it will reopen for 2002

Are we talking about the same ride?

I was also one of the lucky, or unlucky, souls to ride Windjammer. I went to KBF about X-Mas 99' time, and I remember that day that both trains were running. I only remember it racing a few times, though. When I finally got to ride it (walk on, now I understand why) I only ran the red side, and it was rough. However, my little sister and my lil cousin rode the thing like 7 or 8 times. I guess the head-banging doesn't apply to youngin's...

I rode that stupid ride plenty of times. I disliked that dreaded last turn before the brakes. I would bash my head every time and it felt like somebody gave me a left hook directly to my right ear. It didn't matter if I put my head back or leaned foward either. Every time! Damn, I hated that.......
That was probably the most painful part about the ride, the sharp turn into the brakes after the helix...OUCH. And also, once, I bashed my head into the metal grab bar (yes I hit it against the grab bar) in the turn entering the helix. Needless to say, it was quite painful.
