What are the tarps on suspended coaster trains?

On Arrow suspended coaster trains, there are tarps above the seats, in front of the hydraulic cylinders. They can be seen in this photo: http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery129.htm?Picture=2 These tarps aren't however, on Vekoma floorless trains. I was wondering what purpose these tarps serve, and why they aren't on Vekoma floorless trains.

I believe they are to not let out any of the fumes from the hydraulic thingy. But I could be wrong.

I guess so that axel grease and other wheel stuff doesn't fly out onto the riders. The ones on Vekoma trains are plastic covers. They can kind of be seen in this picture:

Yeah...grease catchers for the wheel assemblies.

What? Vekoma makes a floorless? since when. where are they located?

I just want to ride as many coasters as posible

Those are the diapers. They keep the grease and oil from hitting people in the train. Be glad they're there, I've seen them come off once in a while, and when the people got off they were covered in black goo... which, by the way, doesn't come out of clothing, or off skin without a fight...
Vekoma just makes floorless suspended trains that fit on Arrow Suspendeds, such as Vampire at Chessington WoA.

Well why aren't these tarps on Vekoma's floorless suspended coaster trains?

Scoaster just said they have plastic ones. It does the same thing. Catch grease.

To get a better idea think of Batman:TR trains that swing. (2 across)

Grease, water, dirt, dropped chassis parts, wheel lining material, shards from the brake fins.........

You see the canvas crap-catchers on the suspended coasters because the couplers and wheel assemblies are located between the cars, and so the covering has to be flexible. On inverted coasters the wheel assemblies are above the cars, so rigid pans can be (and are) used instead.

Incidentally, those "hydraulic cylinders" mentioned earlier in the thread are automotive-type shock absorbers.

Do the new Vekoma trains have those shock absorbers?

For anyone who ever rode 'The Bat', you would know what they are for. Yes to catch grease, dirt and what ever else falls out. I remember getting quite dirty on a rainy day riding the Bat. Of course they have improved the mechanics quite a bit and it is still a catcher.

Yes the new vekoma trains have shock absorbers.

Hey what are the big blue tarps on the suspended at PKI for? ;)

When I was a BGW a while back, the ride ops checked the "crap collectors" with their hands for stuff on the inside after every run on Big Bad Wolf. I found this to be very odd. Does anyone know why they did this? My friend was jokeing and said they are looking to see if any nuts, bolts, etc. has fallen off the train.
Magnum, aren't they so people won't know they crashed??? Just kidding, you can kick my butt now.

Yes I'm 15, no I'm not childish, I'm not being sarcastic, well maybe I do have somewhat of an ego...

After it rains sometimes the "crap catchers" on Ninja @ SFMM fill with water causing a messy surprise.
