What about the Scream Machine (gadv)?

Yes, GASM is getting a new "scheme" with the paint job. White supports, Blue spine, and Red rails (good old patriotic sf).

Gasm would be better if several things changed:

1- If they reprofiled the first two turns. The banking and the degree of turning are horrible, especially the one into the block brakes.

2- They made the wheel assemblies tighter and SECURE to the track (thats right, the second wheel on almost every car will lift off of the track and continuously spin). I'm sure if the cars were snug to the track there'd be much less headbanging.

3- New restraints would be great, paticularly ex-chiller style. You're not even tight when you ride, you have plenty of room to slide around (plus the fact that theres no seat divider)

Make all those things happen adn GASM will again be a great ride (wait... was it ever?!) Sf might just want to go with the wave of the future and cough put in something worth the space cough.

How much more floorless can they get?

The Great American Scream Machine is one of my favorite rides in the park. Great Adventure is my favorite park of all time. I just want some new otsr's! For a ride with that much head banging, it should have such had otsr's. I can't believe people would talk about dimolishing it. That is a great coaster!
im tossed between two sides...ive had BAD and GOOD rides on GASM.....and happy to say more good rides than bad.  it does depend on how you ride it....yes some chassis work will make MUCH difference, and new otsr's wouldnt hurt much either.  but dont say tear it down...no way....that is an awesome coaster....i love driving into the parking lot and gazing up on it :)  gives a very cheerful start to any day spent at SFGadv:)

ROLLERCOASTERS....BETTER THAN OXYGEN BABY!!!!!!
Hey the transitions dont bother me. I just theink the rails need to be "re-paved". You know, kinda like updating from cobblestone to asphalt.

I agree with Vacoasterfreak that I enjoy the site of the GASM as I am pulling into the parking lot. It always puts a big smile on my face. Personally I enjoy the ride a lot. You just have to know how to ride it. Its not one of my personal favorites but its not at the bottom of the list either. Depending on how its riding, and the lines I will go for multiple re-rides. ;)

If the Scream machine is too rough for you, there is an excellent Scrambler off to the left. And I am sure they sell pink panties at the outlets down the road. Enjoy.

I'd rather have Blue and Gold panties

Who cares about the crappy parking lot because you always look up on your way into the park!  I agree that without GASM, the entrance would not be the same.  To me, I enjoy the view of GASM just like the MF and Magnum structures.  I can't wait to see the new scheme, which will even further improve our view.  I would say they plan to keep it for a while if they invested the money in the paint job.
The Great American Scream Machine at SFGadv is one of there best rides in the park.Like  agent johnson "if you dont want to ride it there is a scambler off the to side of it". The ride is a good ride but a little rough in the first half, why you think they slowed it down on the mid coruse brakes after the 3 loops. (when it went faster trou the whole ride it was alot better) and i think the harnest it has are fine becuase they seem really loose fited when in the staion but during the ride they tighten up and hold you in just fine. Also i would like to know how anyone can black out on that coaster? The chiller and Nitro pull alot more G force then the G.A.S.M and in longer time periods then it dose and no one ever complaits about them.
While I agree that the view of the coaster when driving in is impressive, during this last season the ride finally went from fun into the "too painful to ride" category.  Sure, it still has its moments, but now you spend the ride trying to avoid getting hurt rather than enjoying what's going on.  Viper at SFGadv falls into the same category, although I'd be willing to give it another try when it reopens.  I wouldn't complain at all if the ride was taken down and something new made good use of its space, but I'm sure that's at least a few years away.

Not anymore, for this year they have moved the centrifuge to the place where El Sombrero was across from the Taz Twister....I guess people will have to stick with buying pink panties.

Back to the subject of new restraits, would it change the physical balance of the coaster? Would they have to make major changes to the coaster to compensate the new restaints?

Oh no doubt bro.  BTW...I was also in NSBE....region 1

I don't think there'd be any dramatic changes.  Look at FOF.  Not too terribly much was changed there.

No.

Idle hands were orient to her.

I try not to say i don't like a coaster, but this one is an exception.  For all i care the can rip that thing out and drop it on Afghanistan...it's the most painful ride i've ever been on...i came off that thing thinking I'd need a neck brace.  Oh and by the way i was in like the fourth seat when i rode it, if anyone cares. I do have to admit though, it is very nice to look at when you come in. Oh, and about Rotting Lumber, I actually happened to like that ride alot...it's not my favorite woodie, but i thought it was fun, especially in the back.

"you give me the most gorgeous sleep that i've ever had and when it's really bad i guess it's not that bad" Underneath it all- no doubt
